Best flea markets for tools!

I have been to a few in my day...

Here is what I recommend, please add your own favorites.

#1 Bellwood Drive in Flea market
RICHMOND, VIRGINIA
Off Exit 64 on Route 95.

9201 Jefferson Davis Hwy

$1.00 per person to enter on foot. Pack a lunch and include lots of water. Camelback recommended. Go in the Spring and Summer, and bring your Cash!

(yes it was an old drive in movie theater, for those of us who know what that is)

#2 Caesar Creek Flea market.

North of Cincinnati on Exit 45 on I-71. Windy as hell in the spring, during the summer they have live music.. Bring the RV and the whole family. Great tools abound!!

I've yet to find anything within 100 miles of here that's worth a damn tool-wise. There's one in PA near the Delaware Water Gap that I passed recently that looks like it might be worth a look, but I doubt they're open until spring.

I've been to one in New Castle, Delaware about 10 minutes west off the I95. Right across from New Castle Airport. Its called the Farmers Market, open year round Friday-Sunday in the enclosed building, spring/summer they have an outdoor flea. Free entry, food/restrooms avail inside. In NY there a flea in Valley Stream behind Sunrise Cinema(it was a drive in back in the 70's) free entry, food is avail, but no restrooms. There a Wally World behind the flea for that. And then there's another flea in Ozone Park - Aqueduct Race Track, not too sure if it'll be open for 2011 due the expired lease on the property.

I go to the one in columbus and sometimes I come away with fantastic tools!!! I met up with a man that looked to be homeless and he wanted $2.00 dollars for an old pliers,I not only gave him his asking price I bought him lunch. Those pliers give me great joy every time I see them.

The best ones for tools is Florence about an hour from Myrtle Beach.

Columbia is sometimes decent but good finds are rare
Myrtle Beach and Little River flea markets are a waste of time and any good used tool is a rare find. Coway indoor flea market is a junk store selling pretty much nothing but chinese knock of ****, lotions, heal alls and witch potions. While in Myrtle Beach check out Craigslist yard sale and Garage sales for Friday evening and Sat morning. Thats where the treasure is. Look for the keyword "tools" sometimes "Tools" mean "A" Rake but many times you hit upon a treasure cove of goodies. The Socastee area seems to bring the best finds. Lots of older people clearing out the clutter. There are some "Permanant" Yard sales down Hwy 905 out of Conway and they look impressive from the road but the prices are high because it;s an everyday thing. Hit the ones that are from like 6am-1pm. They want to get rid of as much staff as possible fast and then call one of the loacl places that come in and take your leftover stuff for free removal.

Ive set up at both of those and had better luck at US1. I have a friend Alan that sets up there every few weeks. He and his dad who usually sets up close by normally have lots of older tools.

Many semi-pro good-old-boys who drag trash out of the briarpatch. However, I had to pass up the only Par-X box I've ever seen because it was too big and too far to carry back to the car. Bring a fold-up cart if you feel lucky.

Yeap that is exactly where I buy all of my stuff. I would way 90% of the time I don't eve walk over to the inside place unless you need something like a cell phone charger. What type of vehicle does he drive? I have probably bought from him in the past. I know just about every regular person out there that sells tools.

His name is Alan, drives a white 97-99 F150 reg cab with low bed cover. his dad drive a brown Lumina (transport) van. During the summer I was normally always set up right beside him. Depending on what trailer I was pulling and the load I had it could have been any one of 6 vehicles

never heard of Can Am days to be honest but I may have to look at it for the next trip if it isn't going on when we're there this time (most of April and early May). We ususally go down in the fall so I'm guessing that's why I've never heard of it.

Can Am is a big Canadian-American festival we have down here when we invite Canadians down to vacation and give them reduced rates and have special activities etc. You can always tell when it is going on because you will see Canadian license tags all over the place on vehicles. Also you will see people swimming in the ocean when the water is still like 50 degrees.

Check out the Wentzville,Mo. flea market.It gets good from about April and lasts untill November.I have bought about 80% of my tools there,it is amazing.

My favorite flea market is located near Youngstown, OH. It is called the Rogers Community Auction. It is located at 45625 St. Rt. 154, Rogers, OH. It is the tri-state's largest open air market, open just on Fridays, parking is free, and there is no entrance fee. I have acquired many hand tools from this flea market last summer. Another reason I like this flea market is because of the variety and freshness of the fruits and vegetables available for sale during the summer months. Last summer, a local church set up pony rides around a metal pole for children at one of the booths. I might take my 3.5 year old son this summer to the flea market for the pony rides and expose him to more cool tools.

I was raised there and still go back to visit family there.

Here is another decent one to visit in the Summertime, just South of Louisville, KY off I-64 at exit 116 near Shephardsville, KY.

It is called "The Awesome Flea Market"... Summertime is pretty good. There is a guy there who sells inside who has some quality stuff. He knows everything he has and what it is worth, but he does negotiate very fairly.

Outside can be hit or miss, Somedays excellent, somedays very little.

I've bought some stuff from him before and sold him some stuff as well. IIRC, he's a bit of a gun/knife collector and I think I traded or sold him a knife or two. Haven't seen him or his dad set up in a while. They might be waiting for the warmer weather.

There is a pretty decent flea market inside an old shirt factory in Clayton GA. I don't know the numerical address but it is right on US 441 as you are heading North out of town. It seems to be better in the spring & summer. The winter is slow.

Alan lost a lot of weight when he got divorced. He had a ead F150 before the white on. I didn't have much luck in Columbia. Lots of traffic but not as many sales as Florence. In Florence you clean up between 7am and Noon.

Bringing back a bit of an old thread but the planets finally aligned and we're leaving chilly eastern Canada to drive to Myrtle Beach on Wednesday, landing us in SC this coming Friday. Planning on taking in one of the bigger flea markets on Saturday and was wondering if any of you SC people were either setting up at or attending any of them? was thinking the one in Florence since it's closer to MB (I think?) but if Columbia's better, I'd see about making the trek there.
