Found an ad on CL for a compresser that I would like to pick up to put in my shop someday. Anyone know anything about them, how good of quality they are and if parts are still available?

The ad reads as follows:
Older Quincy Compressor Model # 325 12 Size 4 1/2 X 2 1/2 X3 2 cylinder, 5 horse, 220 volt air compressor with 60 gallon vertical tank. Currently set up to use. $200.00 OBO

I think they are rated around 19 cfm and are 2 stage from what I can find for info on internet.

Quincy's are among the best. Made in the USA and parts are readily avail.

Sounds like worth looking at.

I have a 325 and as noted above, you would be hard pressed to find a better compressor. They do not use a splash lubed system but have an oil pump with forced lubrication similar to a car engine. If this one has a screw on oil filter on the end of the oil pump (should be an oil pressure gauge there), it will more than likely be one of the newer style pumps.

They are known to be a work horse and will run for years if you maintain them right.

Quincy is among the elite in the air compressor world. Parts are definately still available for this model. If my memory serves me correct, the lube pump was prone to fail in the 325's. If it is a pressure lubricated model, this is something you want to check.

thanks guys, I found a complete rebuild kit for a $100 so if someday is needs gone through it won't be too big of an issue. Sounds like a great deal for my shop

got a pic, not sure if you will be able to see anything from it though.

I have had my Quincy 325 compressor for almost 30 years, and it has a full flow oil filter on it.. Back then, I don't believe that they offered it without the filter. Only recently, have I seen the "newer" ones now coming without the filter.

Never had any lubrication problems with my compressor, and it works as well today as the day that I bought it. In 1982, I paid $1600 for it, and it was worth every penny then and now. My only regret is that I bought a horizontal tank, instead of a vertical one. Back then, the garage was new, and there was lots of space. Now, space is at a premium.
