This is the bench drill press my dad rigged up, he got it and it was meant for a craftsman drill to bolt on to it, but he just rigged it up and hose-clamped and bosch 1/2" drill on it. I think its a rig, anybody else?

I used one of those and a 15 dollar B&D drill to drill & tap my turkish mauser for scope bases. Measure & level everything several times before putting drill bit to metal & work slowly. I did modify it a little bit with some nylon machine screws to eliminate some of the side to side slop first though. It has since been replaced with a Craigslist $50 Delta tabletop drill press now.

Reminds me of the monkey chop saw I used for years and even when I was building the chassis to my hot rod. It was this contraption that you clamped in a 4" angle grinder and it had the spring loaded lever. It got the job done, but wasn't **** for accuracy.

My neighbor gave me one of those, not the best in my book

An old timer gave me one of those recently. i salvaged some useful aluminum parts off it. Today we can buy Chinese drill presses of that caliber for cheap that are going to stay square and true at least and cost less than one of those. I'd replace it as soon as possible.

if you add "at least more square and true than that old beater," then I'd agree.

JMHO, but of all the nasty Chicom tools, their DPs are the nastiest. Wouldn't have one as a gift. Your results may vary.
