I had a pretty big issue with the guy here in town.
I got the $400 gift card for buying my Classic 78.
I called SnapOn and they told me I could redeem it on the truck.
This DB gave me the run-around for a month saying that he wasn't sure if he could take it...blah, blah, blah.
Eventually a fellow from SnapOn headquarters told me to send it to him with a tool list and I had it shipped w/in a week.
Needless to say, I don't think I'll buy anything from that dude.

Snap on dealers are independent owners. They are their own boss, good luck in your venture though.

Who is the signed finance agreement between. You and Snap-on or someone else? If it's Snap-on call corporate. If not you should've read it before you put your X on it.

My father had problems with one he kicked out.Would not warranty anything worn out and told my father Snap On does not cover anything worn out. This dealer still does this and most customers on his route have a drawer full of worn out tools he will not warranty.Came by after working hours too,9:00 PM at night. There is one area Snap On owns the truck, the Manistee and Ludington,Mi area. The dealer has a special job title, gets paid by Snap On and Snap On owns the tool truck. No one would not take this area at all before this dealer came around.

If you signed a contract the interest should be plainly visable. No contract then don't pay the intrest

The Snap-on dealer that deals with our college is pretty bad, your tools may get here in 2 weeks only to find 1/2 of them missing! Then it's another 6 to 8 week wait! Thats why I went with Cornwell!

My snap on dealer takes months to get orders in , and months to warranty tools. We have called corporate and bitched and nothing ever changes. I like the guy but he is a total pain in the ***, he just says everything is on back order and makes excuses up and down. I think his credit is shot and he just cant get the tools, I cant believe he has lasted as long as he has with the way he does stuff.

If you signed an agreement/contract and it was legally signed then you are bound by that contract.
i am not sure he can charge you interest unless if you sing a credit contract from snap on credit.
pm me when you get a chance

I would be real interested in reading the contract that you signed. PM mrshaun or myself and one of us will try and assist you or point you in the right direction.

Do you have any first hand knowledge of anything?

Yes,I do.Dealer down the road in my area takes the White Cloud,Mi area too.No one would not take this route either. The dealer my father had did not come around for 4 years,1994 to 1998.Finally came around coming with a new route excuse and my father showed him the door.Told him there is the door and not to come back unless he was told to.Before the new dealer came around in the Ludington/Manistee,Mi area, the broken tools were sent in to get replaced since there was no dealer coming around.

sorry to hear you're having problems. I've had great luck with my SO guy thus far (knock on wood). His truck account interest (flat "cost of borrowing" )rate is clearly posted above his computer on the truck so there's no mis-understandings.

hope you get things resolved.

I always pay my bill on time and pay way more than I have to. His truck has tools on it but its the same stuff week after week and month after month. The flyers come out and I want to get stuff off it but he cant get anything, I wanted a new set of the hard handles, he tells me he has 10 sets of each coming and that was at least a month and a half ago still no screwdrivers. Its annoying as hell and we no other dealers that can come in this territory so were stuck.

Unless your dealer extends a decent discount to you i dont even see the point in dealing with a dead beat. Snapon.com and the mail warranty system is all i'd be doing business with.

My Snap On Dealer is fantastic! I haven't turned wrenches for a living in about 10 years. But even now, when I need (want) something I call him up and he will meet me at my house or my office. No problem with him ordering things for me either.

He was that way when I was a tech too, and followed me to a couple of different shops he didn't service until I went to work there.

Probably why he is the only tool truck in town these days. We used to have Mac and Matco also, but they have both been gone for years now.

We have several good dealers in this area. Mine keeps a well stocked truck, does not have a problem getting orders, always has the specials when they are supposed to be there (except when SO gets behind), gives a discount for cash and I also consider him a good friend.

Several times a year he will have guys and their families over to his house for a cookout/party. I help him out on things and he helps me on others. He is an independent dealer and will sell different tools if you want them (everything from KD and OTC to Gearwrench and Knipex) and will also warranty all of those in addition to Snap-on.

He will welcome anyone on his truck and is always there, on time, unless he is on a trip/vacation or a family issue has cropped up. He will let you know on the former and will let you know the reason if it was the latter the next week when he comes by.

He also sells a LOT of tools by being the quality dealer that he is. I feel sorry for those of you with piss poor service and low rent dealers but I think that the bad dealers receive all of the bad press. Those of us with a good dealer never complain about them so they often go unnoticed. Are there bad dealers? Yes. Are they the majority of the dealers that Snap-on has? No. Can Snap-on force a dealer to behave? Very rarely as those guys paid for a franchise and can do pretty much what they want within a certain framework.

I deal with SO on line, never a problem. Get my tools fresh off the forge. I do have to ship my warranty tools back. I don't mind since I have several toolbox sets for backup, not all SO though.

I've had nothing but the best support from the local SO dealer AND from the SO dealers here at GJ. The folks at customer service have also been very helpful.

As with any sales distribution channel there will be good and bad dealings. Vote with your wallet and that's the best method to reinforce the good and thin out the bad.

I most states there are fair lending laws so if he charged too much intrest he can be in big trouble. You should look in to the law in your state and go from there, I'm sure it is online in your state government site.

Had nothing but good luck with the three or four Dealers I've had to deal with in this area. The current one, I don't have an account with, but have had no problem replacing any of my broken tools, and he keeps a well stocked truck with quite a bit of the new stuff on it.

Sorry to hear about your problems, hope it gets straightened out for 'ya!

I also feel bad for those of you with bad SO service, the only complaint about my dealer is he never has anything orange handled on the truck unless I have him order it and he always has new electronic stuff on the truck and I cant always afford it

I guess its like anything, some good some bad.

I would have to say that in general most have been "good" and a few have been exceptional.

I dont buy many Snap On or Matco etc anymore as I do mostly machine work now and I have most of the expensive hand tools that I "think" I need.

I have actually told the dealers that it is fine if they dont stop at my shop, as in my opinion their time is very valuable and I will never buy enough for it to be worth it to them. If I have an issue with a broken tool I just catch them at one of the close by shops I do work for.

Most have went out of their way to help me, and I appreciate it.

I don't understand why some people want to tar everyone in a certain group with the same brush, it gets old after a while. I have had good, bad, and so so tool dealers from every brand over the years. I would rate my current dealer as so so, but improving. He lost out on the sale of a Microscan, and knows it, but is working to improve his image around here, he had some issues, supposedly resolved and I am willing to give him another chance, it's tough out there for the small businessman.
