Who make a quailty 26" box

gantle men is there a such thing as a craftsman pro 26" or other heavier duty quality 26" box my current setup is falling apart and becasue of spcae requirements a 41" will not fit

My other issue is price. $600 or less

Before anyone says it yes i have looked at the hf but i still have a bad taste in my mouth from my cart and didn';t feel it was up to the task so it will not be considered.

Thought and opinions please and the price needs to inclucde top and bottom as it's replacing not an addition thanks.

Kennedy or snap on are the best that come to mind. 26" boxes are almost all waterloo if there is any quality there, and that what a craftsman is. International maybe alright, but I can't say for sure. Price wise, watch ebay or craigslist. A lot of techs start out with 26" snap ons with their toolkits.

Top and bottom for $600? That doesn't really put you into a heavy-duty box. It puts you nowhere near a Craftsman Professional bottom alone.

Craftsman-wise, I wouldn't go below the 59618 and 59619 as a combo. Right now the bundle is $700. It's nowhere near as beefy as the new Craftsman Professional boxes, but it's a LOT less money. I have 2 of the 59618 and am perfectly happy with them.

A montezuma portable box for a top box would be an option... Also made in USA. Here is a pic of mine on top of an old KRA-300f. I put a snap on logo on it goofing around.

Was that directed at me and about the Craftsman boxes? I don't have the bottom, but two of the tops. They work great for me, they're fully loaded but I'm not opening and closing the drawers dozens of times a day.

Spending more, you have plenty of options. The 26" Montezuma Crossover combo is a fantastic setup for its size. The Kennedy 2700 series is also nice.

i had craftsman bottom box as 8 drawers(i had to traded in for KRL1001 4 years ago..) i had to double slides of drawers to hold more weights but it was held good for me when i had been overloads and use it a lot... i would buy it again and put all double slides... but it would cost me more to do that... i am more considering about buy a Menards Masterforce 56"... but not yet...

A cheap well put together feeling and heavy duty box thats not a tool truck brand is the Stanley 12 drawer. I ended up getting one after looking at all the non tool truck 26 in boxes. $300 for a set

I'll second that. Just bought the 26" chest after Christmas, I don't have room for the rollaway. Love it. Beats the pants of the **** Sears sells now, which I almost lump in the same category as harbor freight stuff any more. Not sure of there are any menards that far east though. If you got one within even 2 hours, it'd be worth the drive.

I am very satisfied with my ball bearing griplatch craftsman 26" box combo. I bought them both of craigslist separately at different times for $200 each. I have zero gripes about it at all. It's the tall one in this picture.

59618 Grip latch worth the money ist he black chest i got one 6 months a go and pick ing up my second one this week end .iI been looking on ebay and craist list weekly for 3 years and found only junk or boxes you can buy and have ship to you house for the same price lower10 draw 15 years old and dad 30 3 draw lower both are ok on heavly loaded and used I dont roll them a round much .i love snap on !!! i had a set of slightly damaged remline pro boxes i saved from the scrap dumpster. i was impressed with how sturdy they were, and how nice the friction slide drawers opened fully loaded

I've got a RemLine Pro Series 42" roller cabinet bottom unit. Friction slides but they work very nice. I bought a RemLine XQL top box for it about a week ago. Roller drawer slides! Really nice! Great quality box for the money. The 26" are just as nice.

IF you are going to go with the Craftsman Griplatch, now is the time to do it if you are in the Craftsman Club, there is an additional discount on it. Plus if you google "slickdeals sears 35 off 300" you can add that, plus the fact that they have the tiered discounts running, 5% off + 5% off + 5% off, plus SEARS5OFF50 puts the bottom section down to $295. Using the same method for the top, you'd just have to add something that costs a few $$$ to put the total over $300 to get the extra discounts, but you should be able to get the whole set for under $600.

my boss replaced a set of boxes for a mechanic after his were damaged in the shop. we turned them into shop tool storage
they are probably 10 years old or so, one guy that worked for us a while back didnt like "those POS boxes" and donated s set ofolder SO boxs he had.
i salvaged the remlines from the scrap dumpster.
the guy got laid off, got tossed in jail for drug possesion and never came back for the "donated" boxes.

took the remlines back to the shop and swapped them out for the SO set

Try to get Griplatch top ard bottom matching, from a Scratch and Ding vendor.

I've bought those new condition, used but never actually used, if you get my meaning, for 150, then sold them for 450, top and bottom combined.
I've bought them new from scratch and ding bulk vendors for 80 for the top, 90 for the bottom, with so little damage than no one would know, sold those for 350, so if you just take a little time you can get top and bottom for way under your price range.

Also, check to see if you can fit say a 33-34-36 inch in your shop.

Lots of those sizes on the market, used.

Hold LOTS more than 26, but don't eat up the space.

Big addition of tool space are the deeper boxes. I've bought and sold lots of intermediate and top chests in 16 or 18 inch deep that fit on a regular Craftsman bottom.
That extra depth holds a LOT more tools than the 12 inch stuff.

i gave up trying to use 12"-14" deep boxes a long time ago, most 26" wide roller cabs are 18-20 deep, best storage is with mid & top boxes 18" deep.
anytime i find a used (non CM) 18" mid box, i try to snap it up. ive probably bought and sold 5 or 6 of them over the years, and now kick myself for getting rid of them.

What do you mean Scratch and Ding vendor?

Short question but it takes a long answer;

Some Sears stores (not all) sell their returns, scratched and damaged items, etc. in bulk to vendors. It's a bid system.
Some stores put the scratch and ding stuff in a corner of the tool isle or wherever and mark it down a few percentage. Almost never a good deal.
Some ship it to Sears owned ding outlet stores where they sell it for way more than it is worth. Seldom a good deal.

Other stores send their demo- scratch&ding etc to a bulk seller. This stuff is put in cargo containers and sold at an auction.
I know about a dozen places that make their living buying and reselling this stuff.

You find the dealers on E-bay or CL by seeing a Sears item for sale, then noticing they are selling a LOT of Sears items for sale.
One big one is in Ontario, California, another is in Ventura, California.
One near Stockton California, I have dealt with ones in Indiana, Ohio, and Illinois.

They buy this stuff by the ton,and sell it cheap.
Best deals are when you go, carrying cash, to their locations, where you find industrial buildings packed and piled with everything Sears (and other places) might sell. There you can make killer deals.
Fun as well, I admit.
I've bought hundreds of boxes ranging from Craftsman Industrial to homeowners grade.Bought lots of other things as well, like drawers full of Cordless power tools, Gearwrench sets, etc. etc. etc. Sears for pennies on the dollar.
