I already have the Gladiator floor gearboxes, work bench and floor cabinets. I have been planning to add the wall gearboxes this spring to replace the particle board wall cabinets I already have installed in favor of something more durable and that will hold a little more weight.

I was at Lowes last weekend pricing out the project and the 30" Gearbox units were $190.00 each and $229.00 each online at Gladiator.com. I was about to pull the trigger at Lowes, however they only had 2 units in stock and I need 4.

So while shopping online today and checking for availability, I noticed Sears has the units on sale for $99.99!!! Plus, all the other components are also on sale. I ordered 4 units for local in store pickup (no S&H) for a little over 1/2 the cost I was about to pay last weekend.

"Me Happy!" :)

Hmmm... Lowes does offer an "Everyday Low Price Guarantee", which they will beat any competitors price by 10%. So you should be able to get these at lowes for $90 + tax, or maybe even cheaper since for whatever reason when I go to sears site the 30" box shows a price of $80 but when I put it in the cart it is $100.

That's true, however many of these price guarantees are limited to in stock merchandise, etc. Not sure, however I'm happy with the price I got from Sears based on local availability and even though I might be able to squeeze a few dollars out of Lowes I'm just happy I can start the project.

I tried ordering the 30" gearbox through the Lowes site last weekend after visiting my local store, however whenever I tried adding the wall gearbox to my cart, the less expensive and smaller 24" wall box kept populating. The fun of on-line shopping.

I bought 4 of these when they were 29 bucks a piece from Lowes a couple years ago. I have been to spoiled to buy since I cant get them for that price. I will pop for 2 more so I can get the garage the way I need them. I should have bought 10 of them when I had the chance.

Those Gladiator 30x30 units for $99 seem like a great deal.
Does anyone here have pics of how they are assembled? The description says "some assembly required".
How sturdy are they after assembly?

Make sure you are comparing the right cabinet. Gladiator makes and sells two different lines of products. The lower cost, steel wall and floor cabinets all require assembly. The Premier series are pre-assembled and are designed to be stronger for heavier loads with heavy duty welded construction. The Premier "Wall Gear Box" that I purchased for $99.00 each at Sears is the larger 30" X 30" unit and the only "assembly" is mounting it to the wall and installing/inserting the shelves inside.

Here is a link to the unit I'm referring to on the Gladiator home page:

http://www.gladiatorgarageworks.com..._gawg302drg.pro?scr=category&activeCategory=0

Below are some of the comparitive costs of my on-line shopping:

Amazon - $239.99
Gladiator Direct - $229.99
Lowes - $190.00
Sears - $99.99

You are right. I went back and read the description on the sears site, and they say "all welded steel construction."

The cabinets on the Sears website go on sale for $99 every 4-5 weeks. I missed out on Black Friday but when they were on sale in December I went a bit nuts and bought 10 of them. They are great cabinets for that price much better than the cabinet at Lowes.

I have heard some people complain about them being damaged when they receive them but all 10 of mine were in perfect condition.

Hey guys! I bought these a couple of months ago and have been very happy with them. Just make sure you inspect them so there are no bumps and bruises! Here is what I did to get these for $89 each plus another 4% if you log on to mrrebates.

1. go to sears and add the 30" gearbox to your cart.
2. under the promo section add "sears2011" for $5 off $50
3. Go to coupon cabin and look for their $5 off $50 exclusive sears coupon. Clicking on this will take you back to the sears site which should still have your cart with items still there.
4. If you are a member of mrrebates they also have 4% off your order.

If you want more than one, you will have to start over each time to get the $10 total off each order. I did this 7 times for my orders and even though the guys looked at me funny when I went to pick them up, I saved some $$. Let me know if you have any problems doing this. These cabinets are a GREAT deal for $89 or less :)

Thanks for the tip. I wish I would have know that before I placed my order, however I will use it next time if I add any more. However, I'm still happy with the $99 price. I have the Premier tall floor gearboxes etc. and this stuff is built great! Plus the entire system looks really cool. I even have their Freezerator in the garage with the matching diamond grid door. The neighbors love that! :)

Same here, I bought all 6 that Lowes had left. I'd sure like to get one of those tall gearlockers, but they are never on sale for with a big enough discount

It makes you wonder what kind of overstock or overrun scenerio Lowes had if they moved the Premier Wall Gear Box for $29.00. If I would have seen that deal, I would have backed up our SUV and bought as many as could not only from that Lowes store, but from any other Lowes store I could realistically drive to. Then off to Ebay...:)

The Lowes cabinets that I bought for 29 were not the Premier, they were the cheaper ones.

I bought 4 of the "welded" 30" wall units for $25 each at the local whirlpool scratch and dent, and there an awsome deal at $99 even. You can't beat them..

20? I'd need to build a 2nd garage to mount 20 of these cabinets. I just got back from picking up 1 and with all the tips in this thread walked out of the local Sears having paid just $95 and change after PA taxes. Now I need to figure out where it will fit in the garage. :bounce:

Has anyone drilled holes into these Gladiator Wall Boxes? I would like to run some electrical cords to hang some flourescent lights underneath the wall boxes as well as install an IPOD player inside on one of the shelves and I would like to run the cord out the back.

So........
What is the correct way to mount these - do you need a wall mounting rail system?
- it looks like you would be able to move them left or right if you needed.

Depends. If you use the wall mounting rails-then they can be moved-but you get a big space behind the cabinets that will collect pests and dirt. The rails are additional cost too. I picked up 13 of the $29.00 cabs last year and hard-mounted them all using lag bolts, and wall anchors. I have one left to assemble and mount and wish I had 3 more! These are great. Bet the premium ones are very good. If you assemble the cheaper ones square/plumb-they become very solid and betting no difference in functon. Just more fasteners showing.

I picked mine up on Friday night for $99. I didnt realize it was the "premium' version.. Thats a big box! At 29 bucks, I could afford to stock up last year, but at $100 pop, I only bought what I needed for the time being... I mounted 2x4s on the wall and then lag bolted into the 2x4s so I could put them where I wanted.

All true, however an additional benefit of running the wall mounted rails is that it then provides you room to run cables/electrical wire behind the cabinets if they are mounted up against finished drywall.

I plan to install some flourescent lights as well as run an IPOD stereo player into one of the cabinets. I can then run the wires through the back.

Has this 4-5 week sales cycle been consistent? Is it only for cabinets or for other Gladiator items? I'm picking up my 4 cabinets today, however I'm thinking about installing the geartrack channels on one entire wall in my garage so that I can mix & match some components, however I would rather wait until a sale instead of paying full retail.

I have enough other things to keep me busy in the meantime so I will wait if another sale is coming in 2-3 weeks. :headscrat

Hey! I just bought the 8 foot Gladiator bench at SearsOutlet for $99.93. Brand new, in box. Just and overstock fluke. Woot! Check out Searsoutlet.com and plug in a few stores around your area....
