Must be the cold weather causing the sockets to become more peanut butter brittle.:lol_hitti

When the MG325 came out my dealer was selling impact sockets that he said were specifically designed to use with it. He said it was breaking the regular impact sockets. I just figured he was trying to sell the new stuff. I have to say that the MG325 is very powerful.

to break full length it has to have a manufacturing flaw in the metal process :confused:
i think i would be contacting the company direct--it could fly apart and hurt someone--like the USER [ :shocking:]

Whoa. What PSI is running in the lines?

+1 i typically run 110-120psi and i've broken a couple of impact sockets but nothing like that - they both developed a crack at the hex end and would spread under load, but never broke into pieces.

no doubt the mg325 is a great gun, but i'd go with you have a bad set of sockets. people run those with reducers on 3/4 guns and they don't do that...

Looks like a defective socket or misuse to me. No discouting the MG325 because I know it's a strong gun, but breaking multiple sockets like that doesn't add up. Maybe that batch of Cornwell are junk?

I'm also curious as which 14mm, 17mm and 19mm fasteners you're tightening that you feel it's necessary to use enough TQ to break sockets?

I have seen Snap-on 9/16 and 5/8 deep impact sockets break the same way. No very often, and only after a long, hard life.

I cracked a Cornwell 3/8 10 mm shorty impact that my dealer loaned to me while I waited to get my Cornwell 10mm chrome replaced. The chrome broke by hand, the impact socket broke on my IM31.

Cornwell sockets do seem brittle in my experience, but I haven't used alot of them.

chrome sockets will do that for sure. I have seen a few cornwell explode like that before. the guys like to show me the stuff they break from non existent tool companies. cornwell just fled to MAC.
greatneck chrome sockets are known to explode under that force for sure.

He could be talking stupid out of his ***. lol

He is talking about the local shops not having any dealers. I think he had a prior post where the Cornwell guy quit and went to Mac.

I have lots of Snap on, Cornwell and other many impact sockets and sometimes they do break but I'm not going to panic. I'm not sure branding has much to do with it as once in a while they give up under long term use and usually it is the deep sockets I don't remember but maybe one short one.

When an immovable object meets an irresistible force, something has to give. What is the recommended line pressure for the MG325?

When the Dodge Ram guys start cranking up the boost and fuel on the Cummins, 1000hp can happen. Then literally every part of the driveline starts popping like popcorn, because 8,000# is a lot of inertia to overcome instantly. One of the drag racers told me, "The horsepower is the easy part. Hooking and moving a four-ton dragster is the difficult and expensive part."

i dont know about a flaw, 3 in the same week? and these are not new sockets. the 19mm was replaced about a year ago and the 17 and 14 are around 7 years old. all of which were being used my my ir2115 gun prior to the mg325 which ive only had for 6 months or so

Rusty honda suspensions, lots of rust here, nothing comes off without lots of force

When I first got an MG31 I started using it for wheel lugs. The gun had no problem but I kept breaking 17mm SO sockets to the point I bought a spare. I've broken numerous SO swivel sockets with it as well. It breaks the pin or locks them up. I'm impressed with them. If I buy another 3/8 gun it will be an MG325 or whatever they have updated it to by that time.
