Wow, on the GJ homepage. Very cool.
Thanks for the kind words, everyone. It's great to know that we can share ideas and solutions. I spent many years in that shop building my Camaro, so I knew exactly what I wanted to do once I finally finished it off.
Congrats on having the "featured" garage here on GJ, Scott!
Thanks Rob! I just wish my shop was as big as yours.
Last year, the local newspaper came out and asked if they could do an old fashioned 'pin-up' photoshoot using my garage and Camaro. I thought that was kinda cool - although my wife wasn't terribly impressed. lol This
picture shows what they were going after. Might be somewhat ****? I don't know, so I didn't embed it.
For the fun of it, I went back through my archive of digital pics and dug up some of the shop over the years...
Here's how it looked initially, not too much in there, but I had built the shelves early on, and those perimeter shelves are the root idea for my soffit storage. Primarily because I hated looking at all the **** I had stored up there. Check out that awesome oil leak. It took me a while to find it as it ended up being a hairline crack in the oil pan. Oh well, just yank the motor, I've lost track how many times I've done that. lol
Another view of the old perimeter storage and speaker mount. I'm still using those speakers.
It's not a huge garage by any means, so I hung what I could to preserve floor space.
Always something going on, never really wanted to take the time to properly finish the garage.
Garages at night theme. lol
Back in '06, I knew I wanted to go with black and grey colors, so I painted my raw wood cabinets with Cabinet and Trim paint. Worked great and I liked the colors. The wheels were turning.
With never enough space, I picked up a set of metal storage units, but instead of stacking them, I lined all 4 of them up in a row and bolted them together. This was also the beginning of how I thought I wanted to have a section of base cabinets.
This will freak people out. lol Before sending my car off to the media blaster, I made a paint booth and sprayed the underside of my car with SEM bedliner. With the blocks oriented in different directions, it was rock solid. The underside turned out awesome, very happy with that decision. I have a pic of it
here.
