So my dad was in town last night, and I knew he was coming so I told him to bring his ratchet collection so we could give it a good cleaning. I had recently found the threads on ratchet cleaning and picked myself up some craftsman professional snap ring pliers and some super lube from HF:thumbup:

My dad has quite the assortment, so I thought I would share some pics of the after. Please feel free to comment, I would love to give my dad some more history on some of these older ones.

Keep in mind, most of these were passed down to him from my grandfather(his dad), who used to be a refrigerator mechanic, and owned a farm and worked on tractors too. Some cool history wrapped up in these tools.....and boy did the cleaning help!!! Some of these were a night and day difference after we drenched them with brake cleaner and re-lubed them!

Enjoy

Very nice collection. I wish my dad was still around to spend time like that with but with him I would only have been cleaning HF rats:bounce:

The only thing cooler than the ratchets was cleaning them with your dad. I wish my dad was still around to do something like that. Dad has some nice hardware

Nice! Great little rare Indestro 1/4 too. Not much better than quality time with tools and dad.

Thanks!

It was pretty cool doing that with him

I cherish these moments......I'll pass that along to him

Yeah that thing was pretty cool.....

Was the red paint on the plumb original or is that an" owners mark"?

I asked my dad that same question, and he wasn't sure either....I'm guessing owners marks.....

This thread has good vibes.

The round head Indestro is my pick of the litter.

Now that is one clean, upscale workstation. You don't normally expect wine tasting during a rachet cleaning session. LOL.

Nice collection. Good memory made.

HA! Yeah, my dad does the Atkins diet from time to time so beer has alot of carbs in it, so he had some wine instead.....funny thing was, he eventually had some beer......

I inspired him, because today he went home and fixed his garage door that he has been putting off for months.....Got to use his SO ratcheting screwdriver, but no ratchet... :lol_hitti

Quality ratchets and quality time with your dad....a hard combination to beat. I wish my dad was still around. My favorite is the little round head Indestro, too. I have the same ratchet in 3/8 drive with the Wizard stamp that need a kit. Anybody have one?

the blue cloths/towels the ratchets are laid out on, look similar to those found in a ER suture kit.

I once had a Dr. friend who kept me well supplied. They were disposable, several in each kit, he generally used only one per patient.

ahhhhhhhh, yes. My brother works for a medical device sales company, and he got a whole stack of them for me for Christmas. I don't ask questions, I just say thank you :bounce: But, yes they are from a hospital somewhere....great shop towels

It's only fitting, as we WERE performing surgery

Those are also used to drape a patient in the operating room.
