I got my box from Inky, too. Great small box. If you have to order from a dealer, themotoringshop.com has the best price unless you are ordering from Germany.

Perhaps I must've posted that information?
The orange/grey is the Excel version (also sold under the Apollo name in Canada).

Yes, I believe you were the one that first showed the Excel orange/grey was identical to the Facom. I bought this box on your recommendation and really like it, one of the best deals I've learned about on this forum

Just spent an hour on their site making a list. Not the quickest site to get around on but they have the best prices.

You've been happy ordering from them?

To be honest, I haven't ordered anything from them. I did exhange a couple emails and they seemed to be good folk. You might want to call/email to check their stock before you order, though.

I'm in touch with the manufacturer to see what they can do to ship one to the US. They don't have any US suppliers. They indicated that they supply Gedore, Mastercraft, and Snap-on in South Africa.

I'll report back if anyone is interested. Looks like a great box, with complete access to each section, which is a huge plus for me.

I have a couple of these,€58 for one, and the quality is good and a bit heavier than the Chinese/Taiwan/Etc cantilevers.

I am glad that you guys that have purchased a Hazet 190 from me are enjoying it. I just got a new batch from Germany and have them listed in the classifieds section.

That Gedore looks really good - crisp and clean.

Where can one find one of those these days?

To find an old one with the wood handle i guess you need a time machine and travel back to around 1993 :) ;)

The new version is available from Gedore USA http://www.gedoretools.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=11150

Thanks for the link!

But for $275, they had better include a time machine and a free coupon for the 1993 version!

I had neither a time machine nor $275, but I did have $7 and a willingness to take a 35-minute drive into Toronto to collect this old beauty!

If the box has a model number stamped somewhere I haven't found it, but it appears to be an earlier model of the current 1265. That $275 is now 296.71, by the way... :shocking:

Conveniently, there is a sticker inside the lid from what would seem to be the original local retailer:

Weston is now part of Toronto proper. Please notice the 2-letter, 5-digit phone number...

From 1923 to 1958, 2-letter 4-digit dialing was used in Toronto. Then the 2-letter, 5-digit system was used until named prefixes were phased out in favor of 7-digit All Number Calling between 1961 and 1966.

This means I can fairly accurately estimate the date of the box to after 1958 to ~1966.

And here it is again after getting new lining and holding a vintage Matador socket set and some scattered German wrenches by Gedore, Hazet, Heyco & Elora!

+1 to Kennedy

Mine is thirty years young! And looks and works like new. Great, tough boxes.

But that Hazet sure is purdy...
