instead of investing in tons more tools, get a huge toolbox or a bunch of lista/vidmar boxes to organize it all

Lump...in one of your pictures, there is a stack of small green boxes, a vice on the bench, a tray of snap-ring pliers etc. To the right of the picture, there is a stack of speed wrenches. A couple appear to be Proto. I may be interested in a 3/8 and 1/2 Proto speeder if that is what they are.

Great idea. Uhhh...but you would need to like beer and collector cars...and maybe a game of pool now and then.
HEY, maybe we're ON to something here....We could form a "Tool-Hoarders Rescue Unit."
Then we could all explain to our wives and girlfriends (NOT both at the same time...that can be dangerous!
) that we all need to gather at the side of our endangered GJ member, who is having an "episode" of tool overload. It would make for some great weekend getaways! Can you say, "Tool Par-TAY!" ?

Yeah...I think the right word to use is, "Intervention", like they use for alcoholics and for stuff like "post-partum distress" and eating disorders, etc.
I can just see us all now, explaining to our better-halves:
..."Honey, this is important. One of our "support group" members is in crisis...he is having a tool-hoarder meltdown!
Our "support group" leader has called an intervention, and we must be there for our brother! I'm outa here. Errr...where is my pool cue? And, I need that big cooler with the beer logos on the side. Clothes? Naw. This is a TOOL intervention!"

Damn I had to look where you are. I will be traveling between Pandora Ohio and Columbus Indiana the 5th of March. You are only 30 miles out of the way for me. You around Fridays at noon? Please say no. lol I have a bunch of holes to fill in several sets of tools.

Gee... being a swap meet promoter, I wonder where you could start selling those?
I'm building to the point where I'll be able to sell at my own monthly show, but it doesn't always work out. What I need is a small enclosed trailer to keep all my stuff in--as it is now, the tents, PA equipment, tables, chairs, supply boxes, etc. get loaded into the back of the '61 Suburban (or the '61 Corvair) and hauled there, then unloaded back into storage in the basement every month. There's usually no room for me to haul parts and stuff, and then once I'm there, I'm running the show: I'd need a third person to run the parts booth.
I don't have any dedicated tool vendors... I've thought about hoarding tools and selling used tools at the swap meet. Your show is a helluva lot bigger than mine, so you've probably got a couple dedicated tool vendors, huh?
Are you able to set up a booth?

Ray, yes, I did receive it. I had planned to answer it last night, but Monday night I play in a pool league, and didn't get home till late. The snap ring pliers are Blue Point, and still sealed in the original plastic wrap. I planned to offer them to you...just trying to figure out a fair price including shipping.

I've been setting up a booth at my last couple of swap meet events, and at my Troy events too. But so far I have only been displaying the stuff I didn't like, or stuff which I thought would be too heavy or bulky to ship. I sold quite a few bench vises, several Kennedy tool boxes, about a zillion asian-made wrenches, sockets, ratchets, pliers, screwdrivers, etc. But so far, I have kept most of the USA, Canadian, or European tools.
I truly enjoy selling these items to people like me, who like old tools, on Garage Journal. But sometimes I'm a softy, and cannot bring myself to ask for prices that I think a tool might actually bring. So often I end up putting the better tools on eBay.
But now I think I will start selling some of this stuff. I have a busy night scheduled today, but tomorrow night I hope to start answering some of the requests I have gotten recently.
Traffic for our spring show is fairly intense this year. I cannot believe it, but we are nearly sold out of vendor spaces on all paved areas, virtually all corners, and all prime areas. Wow.

My son has been making a little progress. I came home from work tonight and found that he had mostly concentrated on sockets, like I asked him. He first wipes them all down, and then sorts them by brand names into the various bins. But now, before we're even CLOSE to being done, some of the bins are starting to fill up!

Next is the 3-part bin for SK (left), Snap On, Par-X, and Blue Point (middle section w/blue handled tools), and Thorsen & Action tools. We haven't even begun serious cleaning and/or de-rusting yet!

I don't do pre-event registration... not big enough to require that yet. Last year we moved to Saturday (was the first Sunday of every month), and the head count was up enough that our worst show last year was better than the best show the years before.
I've had a lot of e-mails and calls asking about our first show of the season (March 5-6), and have heard from friends and guys who come that everyone is talking about it. I'm expecting this year to be really good.
For my own stuff, I spent the winter going through my shop and finding stuff to unload... I've got a bunch--from tools to books to car parts to toys. A couple friends are going to set up next to my booth so they can keep an eye on it. At this point, I'm happy to just get the stuff out of my shop! Making any money on it is secondary.
Plus, when guys get good deals on stuff, they tell their friends about where they got it. I'll take a few bucks less for something and consider it an advertising expense.

Hey T100...I've been threatening to buy a big polisher unit, but I hate the idea of fibers and compound slung all over my garage. This idea of yours is interesting. Are there any Scotchbrite grinding disks which are fine-grained enough to not scratch tools which are not too rusty? Where do you buy them? Any other advice?
I could make arrangements to be around, if need be. I am self employed, and the office is only about 15 minutes from my home. Just let me know a couple of days in advance, so I can be sure to be available. And let me know what types and/or brands you are interested in, because my sorting/cleaning operation will not be finished by then, so I'll want to concentrate on items which I know you will want to see.
And I do have some old Craftsman BE tools too, by the way.
