I stopped into Home Depot this past Saturday evening and as I always do I check the price of OSB, even though it's been at like 8.47 a sheet most of the fall and winter. The price was down to 7.57 a sheet, I know it's not as low as it was last winter, but it's still a good deal. So, yesterday I went to Lowes and they were also priced at 7.57 a sheet, but I happen to have a 10% off coupon, so I picked up 130 sheet of it at $6.81/sht +tax. I'm planning on finishing my the interior of my barn in OSB. When I talked to the commercial sales guy, he was surprised they dropped the price just a few weeks ago, but he said it will go up in March just like it always does due to the start of the construction season.

I'm located in Mid-Michigan.

Same thing happened to me. Was at a Lowes about 30 minutes away instead of my nearby Lowes, and noticed 1/2 for $6.47 a sheet... far cheaper than the 7/16. Bought 90 sheets thinking it was a bundle, of course there's fewer sheets in a 1/2 bundle than there are in a 7/16... but I'm finding a use for it anyway :) Also used my 10% moving coupon.

It was last spring when is was over $15 a sheet, I paid for mine, and I'll keep an eye on it in case they drop the price, I told them I wanted it delivered in a month.

ishiboo - The price is 6.47 a sheet before you 10% coupon?

Yeah. It was a pain. My local store didn't want to price match the store 30 minutes away, because they said it was a pricing error on the stores part and all stores in the same district should have the same price. Then they agreed to pricematch their own store, and freaked when I came up with the coupon. :) Fortunately they finally price matched and took the coupon, after I explained that I would have bought it from that store or had Menards price match and take 11% off. The next day I checked and they were back up to above 7/16.

I think that's the price for 7/16 osb in my area, you got a good deal since I'm sure they will be going up in the next few weeks or whenever spring gets hear.

I move a lot too, so I always have a moving coupon or two or three in my vehicle.

Just a tip since you're in Menards territory - Menards will take Lowes 10% moving coupons. And since they cannot "scan" them for Lowes "one time use" barcodes, you can make copies and use them repeatedly. Their UPC book at the register has a barcode to scan for it. :)

How did Lowes price compare to Home Depot? Typically our Lowes is $1.00-1.50 higher a sheet on OSB than Home Depot. It definitely pays to shop. YMMV.

Bought three sheets of it the other day at Home Depot and it was $5.97 a sheet. Needed something smooth and hard to drive my scissor lift out the door to where I was installing my Lanair shop heater chimney. 2500 lb lift made some crunching noises on it but it held up and did the job nicely. Would have rather had some PSP military runway mat.

Did you buy 1/4"? That's the only thing at our HD for $5.97 a sheet. The 1/2" (GP, same as Lowes) is $8.47. If you got 1/2" for that price, you got lucky :D I'm sure it is regional though... and sometimes the stores need to clear excess inventory.

ya got me there, but I never won a spelling bee anyway and my dial up wont down load the link.

I'm just giving you hell :)

You fill out a form with your contact information and Lowes e-mails you a 10% off coupon. It's usable on basically anything and everything, up to a $5,000 purchase.

They are also running something where you buy a gift card now and in a week or two, they add 10% of the value to it... so combine the two and you can get 20% off a $5,000 purchase at Lowes... not a bad gig.

I haven't priced checked OSB lately. I'm trying to figure out a bill of materials for some outside work this summer. I was going to buy some stuff a little bit at a time.
