Ok guys we have a new Menards just open here, and I had never been in one. So I was just browsing around in their tool section and found a TOOL SHOP brand 3/8” Flex Head Ratchet for $4.98. It is a slick ratchet with a SO type handle that only says chrome vanadium, 11” overall, and claims it is a fine tooth action and requires only 9 degrees and a metal speed disc. For that price I bought one to stick in the car tool box. Does anyone have any experience with these? The claim is it has a Famous Forever Warranty.

Yea, for $5 its worth a shot. I'd be curious to see what it looks like and the internals as well. Please let us know what you think of it after you put it to use.

Tool Shop is Menards budget brand, in my experience with them they are about a HF quality, and just like HF they are hit or miss on how good they are.

I had some ratchets made by those people a long time ago when I was first starting out. They're OK for a weekend wrencher or apprentice but they will not last long in a professional setting. They are stiff and the teeth strip under any considerable amount of TQ.

haha, i have that same ratchet. It actually fell apart 3 days ago when i was putting in a new oil pressure sensor in my girlfriends jeep. All the guts fell out when i dropped it. I could of put it back together but i just threw it away. It actually served me very well and ive put a pipe on it a few times and still worked good. For 5 dollars im sure you will be very happy.

If it was stout enough for you to put a cheater on it, and served you well, why would you not get it replaced? I know 5 bucks isn't a deal breaker, but I don't get it. Would you do that with a SO?
