my wife want to put up some can lights in our living room as we don't have any ceiling lights. i have light switch that powers a plug on the wall and would like to use that switch but leave the outlet hot all the time? all the wiring is in the walls and don't really know what else is on the circuit.

i would like to pull a new run from the panel that is mounted outside on the side of the house. how would i go about pulling wire from point A to point B?

i will probably have more questions as i think of them.

The "panel" on the side of the house doesn't happen to have a meter in the middle does it?

this really sounds like you need someone who does this for a living.

a good electrician can do it without tearing the drywall up. Just got done putting 24 cans in a house, didn't put any holes in the drywall that weren't already there.

all depends on your local area's labor rate. If you buy the materials, you'd probably be around $2-300.

Hire an electrician. He can fish wire down to the existing switchbox, wire that receptacle so it stays hot all the time and install the can lights without making extra holes in the sheetrock as long as there's nothing out of the ordinary.

This is a pretty common job, people are always adding cans and switches....
