I knew that Ace was going to carry Craftsman, but I think like most people, I expected they would just have a few items like small socket sets, or some of the gimicky items. I stopped by the other day to see about 3 isles worth of craftsman! Pretty much a full line up too, hand tools, air tools, even some drill presses, and other larger items. I asked about the warranty, he said if its broke, bring it in and well replace it.

So is this an isolated thing? Or are other Ace stores carrying a full line as well?

not having to deal with sears employees might make craftsman move up a notch or two

our store last i was in had one end cap worth of tools. not even ratchet sets, just wierd stuff like the auto hammer and a package of screwdrivers. not much that was of any use to anyone, unless you needed a gift for that hard-to-buy-for-person.

I have also seen Craftsman in my local Ace but they only had limited stock on the shelves. Anyone been into a Kmart lately what is the Craftsman selection in there if any ?

not so much now, at least at the local Super K. early in the merge there was an okay selection, now it's just basics and a couple tool sets. some of it may be the Evolv stuff.

actually it seems the whole DIY section at that Super K is smaller than it was when they opened in '94.

I was in my store several months back and, like most of you guys, they only had a small end cap worth. But now are up to three isle, and the guy said they aren't done yet.

I think Craftsman may have moved up a notch in my book, for simple availability. Now if only I could get a toptul store around the corner :(

Some stores will carry the full line and some will have limited selection mostly sale items. According to a sales employ he seed that in there contract the stores had to have a high amount of floor space like 200sqft in order to carry the line.

Interesting to know. Definitely looks like a good move for Cman. The dealer network with Ace will put Cman as the only real option for most people who dont bother or know to look for online or specialty tool dealers. I just wish they were a little higher quality still. But there marketing strategy is pretty brilliant, and it works, gotta give them that much!

Our local store is going big. Before Christmas some select Cman items. In the last few weeks all of the Ace branded tools have been put on clearance, the shelving and displays replaced and a generious selection of all types of Cman including box's and power tools.

I hope they're not getting rid of the Ace Pro stuff. I have a couple of sets of the combo wrenches and they're nice tools.

Our store put the Ace Pro wrenches in the clearance sale, sizes up to 1-1/4", $5.95 each. Still kicking myself for not grabing a handfull.

I'm wondering what will happen now with their (Ace Pro) 'Lifetime Warranty' ???

Back around Christmas, my local Ace had the 10 piece SAE and 10 piece metric sets on sale for $9.99 a set. I bought a set of each and was impressed with the quality fit and finish. Especially for $1 per wrench.

We don't even have any Ace Hardwares that I know of around here. We do have Sears Hardware, though, which is paradise if you love Craftsman. They are more expensive then the local sears, though. Go figure.

The Kmart used to have a HUGE Craftsman section, now they only have 1 1/2 aisles worth.

My local Ace store has gone Craftsman big time.
I go there regularly to get project parts and pick the brains for the guys in there. This particular location has several guys who are knowledgable, insightful, and on the same wavelength as me with DIY projects. For me, it's the customer service that sells this Ace store.

My local Ace hardware store is a joke, last place I would ever think to but tools. Their hardware is junk, everything is overpriced and the owner is an ***.

Craftsman has been in my local Ace for awhile now, and the selection does rival that of our Sears store located in the mall, but the prices are abso-f**king-ridiculous when compared to that of the Sears store or website.

Honestly, all their Craftsman stock has a very good layer of dust that has settled on the packaging. I appreciate Craftsman branching out like this, but if they can't get their distributors to knock mark up the prices so wildly, their stuff will continue to not sell.

Not as bad as some of the prices at a local scrap/ag supply store.

Theres a 2 3/8" chinese combo wrench with a $80 tag on it.

That's good to hear our K-Mart doesn't have much in the way of mechanics hand tools they do have more of the carpentry tools. I would MUCH rather deal with ACE than some of the people at K-Mart. BTW I had looked all over for a stainless non-electric coffee perculator. I found it at ACE made in USA! YMMV.
