Just curious, why do people want the sets with no handles, when the ones with handles cost about the same? I have some files with no handles and 1 interchangeable handle and I always find it to be a pain to switch back and forth.

Looks like the deal is over :(

I can't help but wonder how many of them will be canceled. Yes, Amazon usually allows an order to go through for price mistakes just to keep the good rapport with customers, but I think this is going to be too much of a hit for them- selling at, what I imagine, is heavily below cost for them. There's also a good chance that Amazon just appears to be the seller though in actuality it may just be a middle man and the manufacturing itself is selling it- in that case though, I find it hard to believe that the manufacturer would allow its product to flood the marketplace like that.

For anyone who missed it here's a set that's a deal also. Not as much of a deal as the others but still a savings.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001R1LOAQ/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Ooops! It just went up to $94 also. I was just looking at it a few minutes ago to see if it had gone up too and it was still cheap. I got one of these also.

If I was the OP of this deal, I would have posted and waited to see if they ship before posting here. It is always good to make sure you get the deal before it blows up.

Amazon must be watching this thread. Lol. Well hopefully they'll go threw and if not i'll just chuck it up as a loss and move on. I've gotten a few deals on here and decided this looked like a good one to pass along.

I'm just trying to learn here. Does that mean you really like your current handle, when ones with handles cost the same as not with handles?

I guess I could understand why no handles are better if you want to travel with them or take up less space.

I figure the files on Amazon were made in the USA, but here shows where they are headed. http://www.cullmantimes.com/local/x104121301/Nicholson-File-closing-next-year

its Cooper tools, not the first American company they've laid waste to, wont be the last. I was actually surprised initially to see the Made in America logo on the picture at all after i noticed the Cooper was the owner/manufacturer.

The lead time for the orders is probably the ETA of the products to start arriving off the boat from China.

I had the same exact thought when noticed the delivery time. :(

I'll keep my fingers crossed that they are US made. The last Sthil chainsaw files I bought were made in Brazil. They have lasted as well as any that I've ever owned. I think that the last 14 tooth Starret hacksaw blades that I bought were from Brazil and they've help up as well as any too.

Getting a good quality foreign made item is a lot better than a crappy quality foreign made product, I guess.

If they are ever delivered it will still be a major win....... no matter where they come from ........ the handles alone cost $4.00 each on Amazon.

Would not have minded getting in on that.
What set was it and how much was it?
Reminds me of when Home Depot had the worksharp 3000 for like $75.00, then they ran out, then they put it on back order, but you could still order, then they ended up canceling all the order's.
Don't know for sure, one of the guys wrote a letter to the CEO, and the next thing you knew HD announced they would be honoring all the sales that got canceled. I could not believe it, as I just said OH well, and had given up.
Any one here was on that deal?
The WS 3000 seems to be a nice little machine.
I wish we had a mennards here, if they all closed out the sandpaper, I guess I could have got some PSA disk's for the WS 3000.
I just have to make a punch to pinch out about a .500 hole in the center of a disk. Was thinking sharpen up a little piece of 1/2" copper water pipe.
Thanks,
Tony

For you West Coast guys, here's an opportunity to get up to 40% off tools at Orchard Hardware (OSH) stores. Total up your purchase as close to $50 and use the $20 off coupon below. As you know OSH is owned by Sears and they stock a decent amount of Craftsman tools.

Use this coupon at checkout.

I wish the metric flare nut wrench sets would come down this much, but I doubt it ever will with things continuing to go over to metric and the metric demand staying up. Still might be helpful for the classic car guys on the forum.

Amazon is selling the six piece flare nut wrench set (SAE) for $25.94 with free two-day shipping with Amazon Prime (and free shipping as usual for orders over $25 anyway). Next closest price I can find is $51.03.

With it being Amazon and not a 3rd party selling it i think they'll go threw. They'll just chuck it up as a loss instead of losing multiple customers. Here is my estimated delivery date- April 18, 2011 - May 2, 2011. I think they might just be out of stock for now.

Here is another deal i spotted the other day. I'm always in need of quality consumables for my grinders and found these.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001VXTTMK/?tag=atomicindus08-20

I was going to wait until they arrived to confirm they are 20 packs and post here. Granted I had to pay shipping since their from MSC and not amazon but i ordered 5 packs. Once again i can not confirm that these are 20 packs or single disc. If their single disc i will be returning them since it is not whats posted in the description.

My order came in today for the cutoff wheel, and there was just 1 in the box. Wondering if you had the same.

Tekton 10 piece jumbo combination wrench set. 1-5/16 inch, 1.375 inch, 1-7/16 inch, 1.5 inch, 1.625 inch, 1-11/16 inch, 1.75 inch, 1-13/16 inch, 1.875 inch, 2 inch $73.65

Any idea if these are USA made? The company is out of Michigan, took over MIT tools. Sounds like the wrenches are lifetime guaranteed.

http://www.amazon.com/TEKTON-19621-Combination-Wrench-10-pc/dp/B000NPXKAE/ref=sr_1_37?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1300839598&sr=1-37

Goldboattail455,

Tekton is a brand name under Michigan Industrial Tools. All of the products imported by MIT are made in China.

Bummer. Another American brand basically bites the dust due to corporate conglomorate greed.

I bought a bunch of Nicholson files over the last yr. The flat ones were US made; all the others shapes are Mexico or Brazil.

Sears is doing 15% off on some tools right now. I was already going to buy the Craftsman 17543 router when I noticed the extra sale posted for today only. The details didn't show the router as being excluded, however when I added it to the cart the extra 15% discount adjustment wasn't applied (was already marked down from $119 to $79 before I put it in the cart). After 15 minutes on the web chat with their customer service person, I was able to get the extra 15% discount. I'll end up paying $67 for it, which is a good bang for the buck.

So if you are trying to buy something, check with customer service if you don't see the discount in the cart.

I'm sad too, but why is it always corporate greed that is the whipping boy? There are dozens of other market pressures, but they get ignored. One of the biggest is the consumer, many of whom would rather buy a cheap HF file than a USA made Nicholson. Another is the American worker, who won't take a job unless it pays a certain amount with benefits. But, let's keep kicking corporate greed. It's easy and it's simple. If you or I were in charge of Nicholson, and had to keep the company from going under, we'd probably do the same thing whether we felt good about it or not.

Good news is, one of the few sectors of the US economy that's looking up, is manufacturing. And our dollar is so weak, the rest of the world finds US goods to be a screaming deal. So our exports are going up. With luck, maybe we'll be the next China.

Back on topic, just came back from a $50 HD purchase for $30, using the OSH coupon. (See? That's greed too. Everybody who reads this thread is a greedy ******* looking for a screaming deal. Except we don't call it "greed" when it's us...we are just being prudent and thrifty.)
