Why is it that you can only open one drawer at a time?

so you cant tip it. Its actually one "level" at a time. The top two drawers can be opened together since they share different rods. You can disable it easy enough by gently pinching the lock rods with vise grips so they cant drop but i like the feature myself.

Lame about them "firing" you though i believe the PC term is layoff. I'd think they'd want the 2 weeks to find a replacement and get a new guy settled in but i guess these businesses would rather show themselves as disrepectful douchebags.

If I am correct, they cannot fire you once you give your notice. If they do, they have to pay you out for the remainder of your given date unless you agree on leaving sooner. Anyone want to give some input?

I'm not certain, but I believe you're correct.

Ok I think those are the one where you have to twist the wrench to lock it in place. I didn't know you could mount it vertically.

Skin have you tried this? I don't think it works.
Opening the drawer seems to pull the rod down, it's not just gravity pulling it down.

I tried pulling the rod up while one of the drawers was open and it wouldn't move. I'm not sure it can be disabled. I thought maybe it was just my cart since mine also had defective paint.

Reesez, nice box, love the way you have the wrenches mounted. Hopefully it will serve you well.

Sorry to hear about your former employer doing that to you. Last place I worked out was so cowardly they wouldn't even let you go while at work. The owner would send one of his family members to your house during the work day and put a letter in your mail box telling you that you were let go.

yup. said it was policy not to fulfill a notice but they ask for one at orientation. makes sense to me lol

When it comes to company policy you really need to leave your brain at home. The worst thing you can do is ask questions, it just leads to more questions.

it's likely to protect themselves. the last thing the shop wants is a tech working on a customers car with a bad case of "short-timers" disease. if that tech has less than savory morals/ethics, they could do something bad to the customer car knowing full well that the shop will have to deal the mess once they're gone. On the other hand, every time I've heard of this, the employer will tell the employee "we'll pay you for the next two weeks (usually with vacation or sick pay before regular wages), but don't bother coming in."

That's a ****** way to run a business. Do they do that for any reason other than spite? I always thought simply not showing up for work was an unprofessional way to quit a job. If I knew I was working for a company that had a history of firing people that gave their 2 weeks notice I think I'd ask for a bunch of double shifts back to back. Show up for the first shift, work ten minutes, throw my mop down and walk out.

i took a quick look at it again, very easy to disable. The rod simply has little angles welded onto it that ride in the track on the side of the drawers. Pull the drawers out and grind them off, reinstall drawer. Course the one drawback is it disables all ability to lock the drawers completely.

Surely if you give them two weeks notice and they get rid of you there and then they have to pay you for the notice period?

Fairly sure that's the way it is over here anyway.
our state is not as right to work state tho. so im prolly screwed
kinda getting used to the one drawer thing a little

depends on the state. some are hire/fire at will and others are "right to work" states.

z28 has it pretty much right. Many states are "hire at will".

Ya they can/do fire out of spite, usually citing some kind of "performance issue". Real vague quotes like failed to meet standards.

I worked at a place like that. Gave them a 2 hour notice right as they were asking me to accept a promotion. "blah blah family issues blah blah"

any hiring is presumed to be "at will"; that is, the employer is free to discharge individuals "for good cause, or bad cause, or no cause at all," and the employee is equally free to quit, strike, or otherwise cease work.

Anytime someone quit with 2 weeks notice they got the "what makes you think you are so valuable we need 2 weeks? You are fired effective immediately."

It doesn't really matter, no big deal, not like the person wanted to continue employment anyways. Only difference is, you are often eligible for unemployment if let go on such terms.

On the other hand I grew up in michigan. In HS I flipped burgers. People would walk out all the time. "I quit, bye". Those people were all fired for absenteeism or no call-no show since they could not prove the provided a 2 weeks notice.

Does anybody know the total weight capacity of this cart?

i want to say it says the weight limit per drawer on warning label under the lid. Just take that and multiply by 8 [7 drawers + till]. Whatever it comes out to i'm sure it will be far far more than you'll ever realistically put into it. I think it was about ~100lbs (per drawer) and about a ~1000lb load limit distributed over the 4 casters (probably not including the weight of the cart itself).
