Ok, I bought a used "bench top" drill press a while back, and since then I've been using it on the floor. It is quite big.. 40" tall.. well today I finally got around to making room and putting it on my work bench. My work bench top height is 40" tall. So with this thing on top.. its way too high. I'd need a ladder to change the speeds. I did some figuring, and I need a stand to mount this thing to be 30" tall. So, what do I have here ? A drill I have to build a dedicated table for it and only it.. cuz I cant use a 30" high work table. What to do ? :headscrat

I had (what I thought was) a great idea, but then I read rsanter's reply and it just made my idea just sound lame.

Great idea! Just make sure the box has locking casters... :)

I used a benchtop drill press for years and felt OK with it. Then I went to a large floor model and wonder how I got away with the benchtop for so long. I could probably still get away with the benchtop press but having the floor model is so much nicer if nothing else because of the increased power and flexibility in the stuff I can drill safely now.
