I did a quick search, couldn't seem to find much on the subject.

For the pro techs around, how much space do you typically have at work for your tool box? The 2 places I have spent my carrear at have had plenty of room for whatever tool box I should choose. But I fear that other shops may be a different scenario.

After backing out on a couple used boxes a few months ago, I will be pulling the trigger on either a MAC mb1350 or a mb1900. The concern that I have, is thought the mb1350 will do.... I will out grow it very fast. The mb1900 is EXACTLY what I want, but at 88" long, I wounder if there will actually be space for it if I ever decide to move in the future.

So how about it. All you guys with triple banks, how much space do you all have at work for your box?

I have two bays side by side..The left ball has a long wall that i could easily put a triple bay and double day box on. I have windows in front of each of my bay and a normal door in the middle. I have workbenches on both of those walls

when i started at my current job 13 years ago, we had a very small shop, and limited area for toolboxes, and various necessities. i had to trim down from the boxes pictured, to one kr550/555b combo.
when we moved our dealership location, all my boxes ended up at the new, much larger shop, along with all my "home" boxes, i moved from storage.
with not having any simgle box more than 36" wide, i can come up with a combination of storage to fit the available space i have.

i had worked at three different shops, all has difference space...

first shop- i has unlimit space where i do want put at but i dont want hog whole space while i was part time tech at that time...

second shop- i had started to upgraded three times from 26" box to 40" then 54" then 72".... but i had to moved three times as service managers want me to make room for other techs... sad news it had went out of business because car salemans dont even tried to sell any cars! so service dept had been busy and steady work but not enough to keep it live so owner had shut down before bank come over to take it over...

third shop which is largest ford dealership in indiana, i has spot that my service director told me where i am work at. before he hired me, he asked me how big toolboxes i has, i showed him the pictures.. i had changed tool carts to make better work space for me...

there is my pictures of present time...

I see a sever lack of work bench in that space, which in all honesty, is part of my reasoning for wanting the 88" mb1900, with a stainless top, that's one hell of a bench.

Also, I'm getting it new for $4000, the mb1350 is $3500.

I worry that the 88" unit may not fit in future shops if I ever decide to move.
For the most part, I feel the shop will make room for me if they want me.

On the other hand, at the price I'm getting it, I think I could easily trade off and come out even, or close to it.

I'd really like to here from some more guys, I know there are a lot of tripple bank owners out there.
