Alright guys, Im in the market for a new bench grinder and not sure of many other brands other than craftsman. Its just going in my garage for normal stuff, and I only wanna spend around 100 bucks. Any suggestions?

I have a 8" Ridgid bench grinder from Home Depot. I got it last summer only sale for $55. Works well with no issues.

What do you all use a bench grinder for? The only time it would be handy for me would be to sharpen drill bits or cold chisels, which isn't very often. (In other words a cheapy would be more than fine)

since i do nearly all of my sharpening and precision edging on a wet grinder, the bench grinder has become like a bfh in ways. fast, versatile and effective. wire and brass wheels for cleaning. buffs for polishing. assorted stones for whatever. at times, i'll use it to notch rod or bar stock before cutting. taper or re-profile a screwdriver or anything that needs to remove material fast.

i think i lit a match off of it once before, too.

Get a used Baldor and you will not have to purchase another.
This comes from the owner of several "cheapies" that are now in the
landfill and 2 BALDORS that will probably outlive me.

Find a baldor. I have a USA made matco my dad bought new in the 90's, I pretty sure it is a baldor and it is 3 if not 4 times the grinder the delta at work is. One thing though, if you have some choices, don't get a 7". Mine is a 7" and wirewheels are hard to find, I endup putting a 6" on.
