I have a 3 lamp T8 fixture that was wired for 277v. The guy gave me several new 2 lamp ballasts that the schematic is for 2 bulbs, my question is and can I wire the second ballast and only hook up 1 of the lamp wires to the bulb end. (half the ballast would be used) :headscrat

simple answer, no.

it should work, but it would be overdriving the lamp, lamp life would be greatly reduced.

one lamp T8 Ballasts are CHEAP, just go buy one.

Actually you can, just cap off the unused lead. The instructions should state that on the ballast label. (Buying a single T8 lamp ballast is better though). Please note this will not work T12 ballasts.
