help me out here ...
what kind of differences are there between a krl series box and a kra series box?
i just traded in a kra series and picked up a krl series yesterday
i really love the new box and the dealer gave me a great deal
candy apple red
retails for 7015.00 i paid less than 1/2 with a trade in
i noticed that the drawer "locks" for lack of better term are the same crappy plastic that my old box had
but , the metal seems to be of a thicker gauge
i am sure it is rated to carry more weight , but other than that what is the difference?
glad i got the box , much more room and i had wanted a new box for a few years
does anybody ever pay retail price on theses things?

The KRL is SO's top-of-the-line tool boxes. They are made with thicker sheet metal, more welds, better casters, more internal bracing, etc. Overall just a more solid better made box. The Epiq line of roll cabs is part of the same "premium" line of boxes offered by SO as well. I have a KRL1022BPBO and I love it. Best investment I've made yet.

KRA are good boxes for the size. KRL are thicker metal, more welds, and different bends for added strengh. Basic construction is simaliar. KRA are designed to carry 2400 which is very high for 40" wide box and KRL are designed for 6800 lbs. The lock and roll is the same set up between the to two. Over all both are good boxes, just nowadays KRA get small and cramped real quick for a lot of guys.

Now that also brings up a question. Is the epiq line any better than the KRL in terms of quality and build? Or are they simply a dressed up KRL?

Page 304 that details all the main differences.

Indeed. Looks like the difference between the Epiq and KRL is the stiffeners, casters, drawer retention, and trim. The sheet metal thickness is the same between the two. The Epiq is basically a little more refined and better looking version of a KRL. Both are top quality boxes no question about that.
