Im into this. Being a formulad license holder this would be a good off season tool. Do you drift cars as well now??

Ill be making one of these soon as i get time. Too bad las vegas doesnt have the best roads for downhills.

Couple questions.

How do they make/figure front wheel out with a freewheel feature and hooking the cranks to the hubs or what?? Got any pics upclose or anything.

I think larger wheels in back would give better speed and slide?? Maybe wheels from a powerwheels? What are most guys using? Must be easy to swap for new ones as they get worn pretty quik??

A standard bike brake for front wheel be simpke and a must. Has anyone done anything with the rear. Maybe you dont need but in cars they are nice as they can lOck just the rears if you need to slide a bit farter to a certain point.

Yeh main thing im curious is just the workings of them. Concept is easy but those key tricky parts id wanna get right so i dont need to build another or have a trike i wasnt stoked about.

yeah the font wheel will just coast no pedals and there will be bike pegs on the front axle so you can put you feet as for the front im using a wheel barrow wheel as the original wheel that came of the oversized bmx was to large

That looks like fun! I didn't know what a drift trike was....so I dug up this video on youtube:

I'm going to raid the iron rack at the shop and keep my perpetual childhood going.

yeah sure is , i just need to find a seat for mine either that or make one but i would like a school seat . you can build the front end from a old push bike

im using pvc wheels for the rear but if you have a lathe wood or metal you can make wood insertes to fit the dia pvc pipe

cheers sam

I never even heard of these before this thread. My daughter would love this. Got me thinking for the rear wheels how about pneumatic wheels that fit in the diameter of a pvc pipe? Just blow up the wheels to make a tight fit and when they get close to wearing out let let the air out and replace.....

yeah iv had herd of that but there is a easy way to do it, if uou have a jigsaw you can cut some round pieces of mdf to fit the dia on the pvc .i might do a video on hoq to make them ,then you can mae them as long as you want plus if you have some large dia pvc pipe laying around its basicly a low cost method.because they will wear out quick

Making the frame down to the cross part of the rear axle is endless possibilities.. I figure I'd want the front wheel to be useable pedaling. With the freewheel aspect to coast as need be..

That idea of the air tire inside PVC seems super basic, cheap, swappable, winner.

I was thinking a chicks beach cruiser type frame to mimic the slope down needed.

yeah im just goin to have pegs on the front axle to put my feet on not realy concerned bout pedaling but i guess you could cut up a uni-cycle and just use the tyre with an the pedals aready done

I have seen these built with swivel casters on the rear. The wheels looked like roller blade wheels only larger. ...just wish I could find the webpage for it

I stole the idea from atomiczombie.com and our next project is going to be the scooter version of the trike.

The trike is the most popular bike in the neighborhood, we've gone through two tires and four tubes so far this summer. I've had parents ask if I'll build one for their kid, and they'll pay for it. I told them I'd help, but the parent or kid would have to do the actual build. Sadly I have yet to get a taker for that offer, which is sad because my kid (the one on the trike) was six when he helped build this one.

We cut up bikes all the time at my house, it's one of the advantages of working on the municipal garbage trucks. I tell the drivers I'm looking for bikes, and I get all kinds. I've actually had to turn down quite a few because they were too nice to cut up.

Seats are easy, that one is a riding lawnmower seat. Cost me all of $15 complete with adjustable seat bracket. Check out any small engine shops near you, they often have boneyards in the back that they can pick through for parts.

Yep, Bottom bracket and crank, chainstays, and rear dropouts. The fork and headtube are welded to the rear dropouts with a piece of electrical conduit as a guard to keep feet away from the tire. What's left of the frame is .120 wall square tubing, and of course casters as rear wheels.
