Does anyone have a good cheap reseller of Mobile wire shelving?

Looking for 60 or 72" height and 18" deep. Two units 36" wide, one 48" wide, all with casters.

There are tons of places, but I'm hoping someone has a good source that is "economical."

Thanks

We need the casters because the shelving units need to be able to be moved around and stored in a closet.

We saw some at Costco, but not sure if they were the right size, we'll go check again...as they don't have them online.

Are they private sales on ebay, or vendors? If a vendor, which? Not looking to bother with ebay, just want to order it from the cheapest place, as I am having a hard time finding stores online with the "economy" style, all the ones I am finding are $250-500+ industrial grade. I did find some good deals on ebay though, including a bin/rack system for $98, but its one of the ripoff vendors that charges $47 for shipping...

Again, another one is $75, but shipping is $50, still not that bad of a deal though, but i'd like to go direct to vendor:

I'll contact Cell in Arkansas, they seem to have a nice selection, but its just an ebay store..

And this is $165 shipped...hmm

There must be a non ebay vendor that has similar prices/deals.

They were mostly private people with used equipment. One seller had a bunch of Metro stuff. Another had a bunch of knock off Metro stuff. This was a couple of years ago when I had a Metro fetish.

Does HF have stuff like this? I dunno.

If you don't want to pay for shipping, you'll probably have to find some stuff local.

you try here?

Yea, that place is like all the rest, not as cheap as the "knockoffs."

We need them cheap mainly because they'll probably be temporary, we just need something that can roll around and hold a lot of **** :) But if they do end up being permanent, then we don't want to get ****, you know?

Anyways, we'll look around locally, there are a couple warehouse places that might have some, and we can get the casters cheap.

Thanks everyone, i'll let you know what we find.

I can get 63x18x36 (2) and 63x18x48 (1) plus 12 lockable casters Shipped from Uline for $675, not too bad.

Costco and Sams I think both carry different versions of Metro rack clones made by Seville, which is I think Italian for China. They are not IMHO 100% Metro rack quality, but 4x cheaper. If you need wheels look over the different sellers, some have BIG nice wheels, and some have cheesy small ones.

Home Depot also had some at reasonable prices last I checked.

I'm also thinking...this thing can hold over 1500lbs, so maybe I can have a very thick peice of steel put on top, make a nice little welding cart...$125

I have this one from Metro, too. Nice, but I don't have room for it in my garage so it sits in the basement holding my network equipment. :(

I would not knock them just because they are an eBay vendor. Many brick and mortar stores have went this direction simply for the worldwide exposure. They still operate an official place of business, but sell online via eBay stores. That's why you can't buy anything at pawn shops any longer - they put all the "good" stuff on eBay.

I agree that Sams Club and Costco would be where I would be getting them from.

Go by Sams Club they have everything you have listed here (less than Costco too). I have the bin/racks (rolling), the ROLLING racks, and the stainless rolling table. All are extremely heavy duty. I use some of them for storing steel and auto parts, so I know they can handle heavy loads. When I moved my shop I just put everything on these racks, pallet-wrapped them, and rolled them onto the truck.

Costco stuff for me. You can upgrade the casters if you like as they use a standard thread size on the post ends. I used the stuff all over the place including directly to the walls, off the floor.

Awesome, thanks guys! Very creative uses of the wire shelving.

I was just at Costco, and all they had was the 48x18x72 rolling cart for $79.99, so I'll probably grab one of those tomorrow. Still looking for a 36" rolling, and one of those tables, and that bin cart, that will come in very handy.

We're not members of Sams Club, and the closest one is 30mins away...i'll see if a friend can go buy them who is a member though.

Looks like local is going to be the way to go, hopefully sams club has everything.

Thanks again!

If they are anything like our local Sams, they will have it all. Also worth mentioning, these items (and some rather nice workbenches) are NOT on their website, but they are standard items that have been stocked at most stores for quite some time, so I wouldn't expect them to just disappear.

We'll have to take a trip over, might have to sign up so we can purchase this stuff if I can't find anyone we know with a membership.

Thanks

I will say I get a lot of the supplies for my shop from Sams. They have a pretty decent selection of storage stuff, consumables are pretty cheap (oil-dri/shop rags) got my tool-chests from there, and they generally have one or two decent tool deals that seem to come and go.

The last good deal I saw was a Channel Lock rolling tool trolley with 1/2, 3/8, and 1/4 sockets in regular/deepwell and wrenches (maybe 300pc) for about $250. Those are now my daily tools, I have two sets that I roll over to the truck when I'm working.

Used restaurant supply. They usually have all sorts of stainless shelving, Metro racks, lockers, storage etc. etc. for half what you would pay at Costco or Sam's. Heavier duty too.

Eh, for the hassle to find exactly what we need, i'd rather just buy new from a place like Sams.

$40 for a membership, seems like its worth it.

I really like this for $100!

I went to costco last night and all the one near me had was the 48x18x72 rolling shelf. Closest sams to us is 30min, so if we go, it'll probably be a one time thing. Although the money saved is more than the membership costs, so its not a big deal.

Sams Club USED to do a 1 day trial membership. You may be able to get around the $40 that way. Go to their service desk and ask them for a 1 day pass and see what they say.

You can send me the $40 instead!

I'm not knocking Sam's (we don't have them in Canada, but I hear they're pretty good), and I don't have a problem buying new, I'm just trying to offer up suggestions that have worked for me. I find most new stuff is too small, and usually too flimsy (especially the cheaper stuff).

I don't have much cash (let me rephrase that... I have NO cash), so I tend to get creative. I'd rather put some elbow grease into a project and end up with something totally custom to fit my exact needs, and save money to boot.

The used restaurant supply place that I deal with has several ACRES of stainless stuff outside, plus about 20,000sf of racks etc. inside their warehouse. FAR more variety than you'll ever find at Costco or the like.

I also nose around industrial and architectural salvage places on a regular basis.

I wish I could just drove over to that place, unfortunately we don't have any places like that, not that I know of anyways.

We only need a couple, and it looks like these should fit our needs well. Thanks for the tip though.

Quick Update: We're officially Sams Club members (no more 1 day trials offered).

We got a wire shelf mobile cart, two 48x18x72 rolling wire shelves, 48x18x72 wire shelf bin rack, stainless table/shelf thing posted before, plus some misc stuff (stainless trash can, stool, etc)...all for ~$525!!! Made out like bandits, now time to assemble and find a place for everything.

Thanks again for the Sams club heads up. if these things work out well, we'll prob go back and get more.

Update2: Everything is assembled, and I'm VERY happy. The bin cart is awesome (i've had them before but its still awesome lol), the wire shelving is high quality, everything has very nice wheels. The stainless bench/table is pretyt damn amazing for under $100, just one thing to note is the top does not attach to the table. I'm planning to tig spot weld some round tubing to the top of the table so the top shelving can rest inside the tubing. This will secure it onto the table but also allow the shelving to be removed if needbe. I'm surprised they did not do this from the factory.
