First off, you won't see anything earth shattering here. I have been lurking around and stealing info, from you guys, and started to feel alittle bit guilty about it? So here are a few pictures of what we are doing.

Next, this is NOT a working shop. We have two garages, one attached (hers), and one detached (mine). The detached one is more of a working shop.

Having said all of that, this all started, with changing the way we stored our bicycles. I had been hanging them from their rear wheels, on a large hook screwed into the cieling trusses. Problem was, my lovely bride could not get her down, or put it away by herself. She needed my son, or I to do it for her. So she purchaced the rope and pulley hanger systems, for the bikes, instead.

It was the installation of those hangers, that lead to all of this!!!!!!!

She wanted the peg board took down, and those fancy track things put up instead. Well I'm too cheap for that. So I hit up my good friend Craig. You guys know Craig, yeah, Craig List, that guy. Anyway, CL slat wall, CL VCT, etc. etc. You know the drill.

Before I go any further, let me acknowegde, that this is the exact WRONG way to go about a project. Letting it grow, is not the way to do it. I know that, but hey, it's what happened

So onto the pics, I didn't take ant of the start, be it evolved, I was stealing from you guys, so here is my meager offering;

First off, here is a picture of the stuff we park. The Yukon XL, and red Z, are parked in the garage, that this thread is about;

Next a few of the drywall repaired, walls painted and slat wall up;

Now those perceptive ones of you will notice the purple slat wall, remember that later.

After the walls and cieling were sorted out, I turned my attention to the floor.
I used this stuff for some large cracks, and big areas of "spalling";

This stuff for the sxpansion joint;

And for the smaller holes, and popped rocks;

After we gave the concrete a few days to cure, we went over the whole floor with a grinder. What that? Did I go rent one? Oh no, I'm way to cheap for that!!!

24 grit disc, and some knee pads!

That leads us to the VCT, here's is what Craig came up with, remeber the purple? My lovely brides favorite color is purple;

Those are the (4) colors, that Craig could find, 224 sq' of purple, 180sq' of lavender, 180 sq' of cream and some scraps of black. We are playing with patterns, and will do our best to make look like something.

As it stands now, the VCT install is next. Chalk lines are down, floor has been ground and vacumed, tonight I will start spreading some glue!

Grand Blanc, Michigan. Suburb of Flint, aprox. 60 north of Detroit.
Slatwall came from three areas, Flint (8) sheets, Saginaw (2) sheets, and (19) sheets from Detroit.

Pretty much same story with the VCT, 400 sq ft, from Grand Rapids. 180 sq ft from Detroit. I only look on the CL's where I know I willbe traveling anyway. But like the 400 sq ft from GR, I have a buddy with family over there, is visits often. He picked that load up for me.

It's called "Slatwall", Slotwall". I've seen it at Lowes in white, for like $45.00 per 4'x8' sheet. With the way the economy has been, a lot of small businesses are closing, and sell their store fixtures.

If you search it on this site, there is a lot of discussion about the different types, and the strengths ( the amount of weight the hooks will support) of each. The style you se in mine, is the "melonine?". I was concerned about this, until I noticed this huge display wall at my local hardware. "Mid State Bolt & Screw", the thing is like 50' long by 12' high, and just loaded with power tools hanging from melonine slatwall.

That enough to convince me that it would be strong enough for my needs.

My wife is getting space in my shop she can use all of the tools but one area I wont be putting my stuff in.

She refinishes and canes furniture.

Its OK sometimes she lets me use you know, the woman tools like the washer and dryer.

Well the majority of the VCT is down.

Have to re arrange the furniture, and do the remaining 91 sq' tomorrow.

Lovely bride wanted the tile laid in linear style, to go along with with the look of the slat wall. Standing in the room, with the big door down, the horizontal lines of the slat wall, along with the inside of the 16' door, there are a lot of visual "lines". The floor ties in with that.

My wife is the only women I know who insists on having a tool kit in HER car. She found a nice looking Craftsman set in a folding vinyl case. I added a small locking pliers and an adjustable wrench. It has been used by both of us multiple times.

It's a 2500HD Dmax Alli truck. Running a tune, and a few other things. The front clip is the stock one for the truck, with a replacement grill insert. I just painted it black. (the grill shell)

My brother has a 98 chevy just like your sons, he needs to remove some dings do a little rust spots and repaint the whole truck, how much did your son pay to get the whole truck redone?

He didn't pay very much, dad (me) covered most of the cost. He did buy that hood, it was $700.00 from Summit. All other materials were covered by me and his mom. We did it for his 16th birthday. That truck had been my daily driver since 1998. In 01 I put a 383 stroker motor in it. It has ALOT of work done to it. Chasis dyno showed 320hp at the rear wheels. Not bad for a TBI truck.
