Update 5/29/11
Getting to much front end bounce down the straights, and not enough pressure over the front wheels. Made up a weight that bolts to the front bumper.
Weighs about 28 pounds.

Racing at Ithaca Sunday 5/29, will see how the new weight setup works out.

You got to shorten the drivers legs ! They look like a couple of sails out there !

Great fab job and it looks like a lot of fun !!

Ah, I was thinking about adding mass vs. aero downforce, but at those speeds you'd be challenged to get much aero action... Not that it couldn't be done, but the mass is probably more effective.

The weight was to much.
Cut approximately, 1/2 of it off the right hand side
so only the left hand side remains.
Will find out if it works any better, this Sunday at Ithaca.

Its looking like July 10th at the Maple Rapids track (our home track).
Come check it out lots of beer & BS after the racing.
Better yet , throw together a mower and race in the stock class
we need as many new drivers as we can get. Rules are spelled at
mrgrasskickers.com :)
Maple Rapids is one of the best tracks to be a spectator at as you are
allowed to be much closer to the action. Its really a nice track, with bleachers
and a permanent concession stand. Unfortunately, its on the verge
of shutting down, if we don't get some new people involved, 2011 might
be the last year for Maple.
Look for the #97, the beer is on us (Old Milwaukee, of course)
We will also be racing at the Potterville Gizzard Fest on June 11 if that
is closer for you.
Hope to see you at one of the events.

Looks great! Lots of good fabrication ideas there. Good luck with your season.

Thanks, If you can use just one idea from this, then it was worth posting
this build up to GJ.

Some pictures of the Dyno session at Hoffer Performance.
My friend Duane setting up the machine.

Duane adjusting the blowers.

Computer and control console

The guts to the machine.
Its basically an electric disc brake controlled by a D.C. motor drive.

Ive never done any mower racing, but **** loads of kart racing. Lots of shared tech.

Are you allowed to use tire preps?

Are you allowed to build a left turn only chassis for your class? Offset and built with lead ( read ; leed ) for turning left. Our dirt karts are built that way and will only turn right if you absolutely force them to.

I would imagine you could find some extra corner speed by looking at some kart setups.

Very nice work on the build.

I made it into the finals of the Miller welding challenge with the Old Milwaukee Express Racing lawnmower.
You can vote for me here http://www.millerwelds.com/challenge/
Its in the bottom right corner "Racing Lawnmower by: J Mesh".
The top prize is a choice between a new MIG,TIG or plasma cutter.
Thanks to all in advance, and wish me luck as it looks like I'm going to need it.
