Hello all, I have searched the forums and have read quite a bit about the Benwil lifts. From what I can see - they were used quite a bit at GM Dealerships and are fairly underrated at 7,000 lbs. My question is I found this on CL and the guy is asking $1350.00. Price seems a bit steep to me. This is what he e-mailed me about the lift, "lift is made by bendwil it's a 7000lb 2 post lift with clear floor with upper-brace. Not sure of age I bought used and paid someone to disassemble and deliver. It worked great. I bought it about a year ago and that's when it was last in service. I had it stored in a shop but has been outside covered with tarps for about 6 or so months." I am going to look at it and try to find someone local who installs these lifts for a living to look it over. My only fear is......it's a lift that I will be working under. So IF I "hopefully" have it checked out by a person who installs lifts and it receives a clean bill of health (even surface rust makes me nervous on a lift, even though you see them mounted outside quite a bit), what is a fair price? Like I said, $1350.00 seems a little on the high side.....thanks everyone ahead of time!

$1300+ for a cheapie used lift? A bit high and you can't even see it work. I wouldn't chance it...you can buy a new cheapie lift for around $1900. You're going to have to pay someone to look at the used one and he isn't going to be able to tell you if it works without setting it up....my .02's worth.
UPDATE*
You can buy a new one for that much....

Thanks Darkk but no, I'm not really looking for cheap, but I won't pass up a good deal either! :bounce: Thanks for the info!

I have a 9000lb benwil lift and its awsome and a coulpe of my friends have them also no complants.

Jabbers - I am sure they are great lifts, my concern is I would be buying it without seeing it operate, and it seems like they all have only been stored outside, under a tarp for "6 months or so."

I just bought one in Washington. I paid $650 and he delivered it. Needs a new chain at 340.00 but other than that it works great.

wow talk about bumping a old post, Ill ask around at work for ya Jhnsnwllm315 ..we have 18 of these in our shop(GM Dealer) but they are done, they are replacing them all theyve already done 5... Ours are old at least 25 years old but i have to say even tho they are
MADE IN JAPAN, they have been reliable and they are really overbuilt for a 7000 pound rating, not like the **** they build today!!
heres my 2 Lifts, one with the pick up on it, and the empty bay in the foreground
