grounding "stinger" on metal box?

Another newbie question - I bought several metal boxes at a salvage store - they looked new and are probably overkill, but the price was right.
I was told today by a friend that I need a grounding "stinger" on these metal electrical outlet boxes (see pic) in order to meet code.
He said they were about $1 each -
another friend said he thought you could make them up, but I don't know what I am looking for - can somebody help me out? And what do they ground to?

you have to bond the box. green grounding screw and a piece of #12 solid and youre good to go.

alot of companies make premade 'pigtails' for this purpose.

Those boxes are a PITA, use a 4 sq box & ring or a plastic nail-on box.

thanks got it - now I know what the pigtail is - so........
one end goes on the box and the other on the receptacle itself?

it would get wirenutted together with the grounds coming in and out of the box and another pigtail to the receptacle.
