Has anyone purchased the "new" SK stuff?

Hi everyone,

Was wondering if anyone has actually purchased anything from SK since the relaunch. I have a few loose sockets I picked up shortly before the bankruptcy and the quality is so-so. The socket interiors weren't completely finished (got a nice sliver of steel in my fingertip from one) and the ball detents are so shallow in a couple i don't know how they stay on a ratchet.

I was hoping that the relaunch would see increased quality control. I am looking to invest in a full set of both 1/4" and 3/8" sockets, but not willing to spend the extra cash on SK over Craftsman if all I am getting is shinier chrome and a different logo. I try my hardest to buy USA, but may look to Toptul or Genius if the States can't start getting things right. If money was no object I would look to Snap-on but I'm not a pro and can't justify the cost when I have other responsibilities.

Thanks!

Check out Williams. I got some Williams stuff, and it's nice.

They also sell USA tools, alongside import. Most of the descriptions say COO, but a simple way to tell is the item number will have letters in it if it is a USA, and simply five numbers if imported.

I think their wrenches are their real forte or main draw.

Do not have any new SK yet, mine was about 2008 or so, so they "don't count". I'm curious how the pre/post bankruptcy has affected anything.

The sockets definitely were magnitudes above, BUT the deeps did have cap stop type feature which may or may not be desired. Cman doesn't have chrome, so you aren't "just paying for shinier chrome", you are paying for ANY chrome  I notice some of the smaller 3/8 drive deeps are a bit shallow. A nifty function, almost a "mid length" if you will.

Most of mine are spline drive which I have grown to appreciate.

None of this is helping you, just joining in that I am curious how the new ones are. I will be buying someones long pattern wrenches and/or double boxes soon, sostill doing more brand researching.

The inside of some sockets are painted.
