I can honestly say I have NO HF tools period.

That said, I wish they'd come to Canada. It'd be nice to have more choices at least.

What a troll post, and not a very skilled one.

I'm headed to HF to help support democracy in China as soon as I can.

I go there occasionally. Their black work gloves are fine for yard work and I keep a pair in the truck for lifting stuff. I have one of their angle grinders because of its light weight, when it tosses its cookies I'll throw it in the garbage can and pick up another one without any tears. I do have a couple of their extra long needle nose pliers. They're something I don't use very much and I was able to fish through the bins to find ones that closed tightly. Other than that it's just the rubber gloves and dust masks. Pick and choose when you go there.

I know what you are trying to say with that statement, and I somewhat agree... but, communist nations have never been known for the quality of their exports....

I would suggest that you confuse forms of Government with Economic forms. The USSR had a Communist form of government as well as a communist economy. Poor productivity and poor quality.

China has held on to its Communist form of government - but embraced a capitalistic economy. Competition drives China's industrial development because Capitalists from around the free world have built it that that way.

BTW - when you think of "Capitalists" keep in mind that capital comes from the UAW Retirement Funds, the Teachers Union Retirement Funds, the State Employee Retirement Funds from all 50 US States.. Yes, We The People have supplied the capital investment needed to establish and grow China's industrial base. On top of that we give them Free Trade into our huge economy....

I think you might want to include socialism at some point in this vastly flawed definition you have here.

That place *****!

Seriously people? I honestly saw like 4 things I would even remotely think about spending my money on and I didn't find the prices to be that enticing.

The things that looked like they were actually of any quality.

Pittsburg Pro Swivel Ratchet (smooth, teeth felt like they engaged nicely)
Pittsburg Pro Pliers/Side Cuts Red/Black Handle (very Gearwrench ish)
Compact 1/2" Air Gun (very small/balanced, no clue to performance)
Pittsburg Pro Impact sockets (some looked good, some ok)

Honestly for everything that looked good, there were 100's of things that looked like *** and I didn't see the prices convince me I should buy anything and not continue to buy Neiko/Craftsman, etc. on Clearance/sales. I'd rather shop Amazon any day of the week.

My $.02

Interesting post from the OP;I for one am glad we all have different opinions but in all fairness take one day and have some fun and walk around your local hardware store, then visit a local sears store. The goods are being made overseas at a very fast rate; even the big tool truck companies are starting to go that route.

I,too have one of the 5 drawer service carts, and I think it is just fine. All tools should be purchased with your purpose in mind. If you use them every day,buy the best you can afford. If you are an occasional mechanic, buy what you can afford and don't think you have to please anybody but yourself. Some HF stuff is just fine for what I do,(build hot rods as a hobby) but sometimes I need a SO tool to get the job done. It's my choice and my money. If someone doesn't like it they can kiss my fat white ***.

Mike

Very well stated. The HF haters just don't get it. :eyecrazy:

And for the record COO has nothing to do with the quality of anything. American's make junk stuff too. You buy what you perceive as quality at the price point you are comfortable with, period. I'm not a hater of anything but I've seen some fantastic stuff come out of Asia, stuff that rivals anything made anywhere.

It was my point that I saw a TON of items that I saw didn't match the price being asked, I'd do the same at any Snap On truck. Which is why I like the MAC/MATCO/SNAP ON stuff I buy at auctions. Stuff you would pay the same price for at Harbor Freight, with obviously better quality.

hence me telling that particular person "I somewhat agree"... I didn't go into much detail, due to the forum rules about politics... I think you've singled out the wrong guy..

Somehow they manage to bottle and perfume the store with "Eau de Cheap Stuff" aroma... Seriously...dunno what that smell is , but you'll know it when you walk in the door.

Hopefully I purchased most of my Craftsman tools when they were still US made. If all you need are basic tools to use around the house infrequently, the cheaper ones will probably last a lifetime. I'm happy with my $20 dremel-like 100 piece tool kit that I bought at Costco. I've used it three times in the 5 years I've had it. Got my money's worth out of it.

I expect that you get what you pay for. But I don't need a professional grade rubber mallet.

I do look at where products are made when I go into the store. I try to buy made in US, but I generally don't have a choice.

My new bed and nightstand are made in US with reclaimed Douglas fir wood. Surprisingly, most furniture is made offshore too.

Anyone know who makes a 6 foot step ladder that is made in the US? The choices I've found are Werner and Louisville and since neither of those sites says "Made in US" for the products I've looked at, I assume it means made offshore.
