After some truly OCD searching on CL, I found a vintage 2000 lb capacity Blackhawk ES200 engine stand for $75. Got in touch with the owners, but they were not willing to take Paypal to hold the stand for me or anything like that, and they had received a few calls about it. I was pressed for time, and contacted bmwpower to see if he was close to the seller. Well, he wasn't very close at all, but went out of his way to get this thing for me. I am so stoked. Now I can ditch the older Chiwanese stand I have been using for years and upgrade to this USA-made beast. It might be missing a few small pieces, which I will know better when I have it in my own hands. Maybe APMech can make them for me :p

I like having stuff that is: different, vintage, heavy duty, USA, and Blackhawk, and this baby hits all those notes. I love the style.

Sorry if no one else can get excited about an engine stand, but I'm stoked.

Nice! Sure beats the heck out of my HF stand. What is the adaptor thingy next to it?

You bolt that second upright to the front of the stand, with the adapter plate facing the other upright. Then, you can bolt the engine front and back, for added support. I always hated how my engines would sag a bit at the front. This solves that!

I have never seen an engine stand that has a front support. That is pretty neat. Great score. I can only wish I could find anything like that or a good ol jack or a decent toolbox for a good price around me. Everything around here is listed at prices close to new.

If you get OCD about it, you might find stuff in your area, or stuff within driving distance that other members might be able to pick up for you. There are some damn generous and helpful folks on here.

When time allows, it will get some fresh paint :)

Yeah, he's a decent chap for sure. Second time he has helped me out like this. He just got the stand today, and the pics are from him. I will get it from him when my wife and I go to Jersey to visit her gramma.

I think on any OTHER stand the front would sag, but I doubt that beast would even flinch .

Awesome find Dave, I love the old stuff you dig up.

Cool stand! I have the same reaction when I buy something... if I can't fix it on my own John can! :lol_hitti

I sent those guys an e-mail a few days ago, asking about prices for the parts they show for this thing in that PDF link you posted. No reply! :headscrat

Dave, you should trying calling them. Could be one of those places that answers emails "when they get around to it", but that is just a hunch. Website from 2006.

Else, I'll drive over there.

Once I have the stand in-hand, I will have a better sense of exactly what parts I am looking for. E-mail is so convenient for getting basic info...I sort of hate the phone. But, I'm a weirdo.

Is it really that close to you?

holy poo look at that legendary americaness! awesome find

Congrats on a great find Blackha... err, Dave. :D I can fully understand being stoked about a piece of history like that.
Your Poncho engines should be safe on that one.

For the second time now, bmwpower and I met at a midway point in Jersey on Saturday so that we could plot the overthrow of the world using our vast GJ mod powers, and so that I could pick up the engine stand that he heroically paid for, picked up, and stored for me.

I just got back home with the stand, and wanted to put up some pictures. What a beautiful piece of equipment. The thickness of the metal, the lines of design, and the features all make me pretty happy.

Bull, Very nice stand.

Thanks, Shawn :)

now that is a cool

You like that chain brake, huh?

That's cool. Pretty soon you will have a full blackhawk shop.

That's the idea. Well, to the extent that it is possible. They didn't make everything. But, I'd love to pick up an engine crane, assortment of jack stands, and trans jack at the least. I already have perfectly fine and serviceable Asian examples of all of that stuff, but there's just no pride of ownership in those pieces for me.
