I could just post these in the old world thread or some other big one, but decided to add a thread and consolidate a few pics I took. This is an annual road trip I do. We started in Stuttgart Germany and went through Switzerland, Italy, Austria and back to Germany this year.

Some new tools I got GJ member jensputzier to ship to me over there:

Of course I knew the Hazet box. :pimpflash: The other one was not a Lista and I don't think Bott. I didn't know the name and can't make it out on my pic.

I have 915 pics, is there a particular type of Porsche you like? Or scenery?

I think my favorite out of that bunch is the unimog. I still want one of those.

Me too! Note that one is running a saw on his PTO.

Fellow Alabamaian, eh? My car club is in Huntsville - up there a bit.

Here's another Mog for ya:

Awesome pics! I love the porsche museum! I went to the Mercedes Stuttgart Museum and it was very cool.... the "food tool" is a spatzle press for making the classic teutonic noodle! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spätzle They still make the presses and they look pretty close to the one you saw; in this case the classic "Kull Original Spaetzle-Schwob" http://www.loewen-urbach.de/swabian_spaetzle_maker.html
I enjoy making German food; so, the spatzle press jumped out at me! The plate shown; I believe is Schweinshaxe is a roasted ham hock (or "pork knuckle") with a classic dumpling entree on the side... with GERMAN BIER of course!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schweinshaxe
I haven't made this meal yet; let us know how it was! :) (maybe I'll make it tonite!)
TOOLS: tell us more about the Hazet set in the plastic holder... looks to be a 1/4" set with ratchet, handle, bits etc.; please give the part # and how much you paid for it.... did you find the prices in Europe to be cheaper?
PLEASE keep posting up more pics! We can all live vicariously through your travel pics and enjoy the trip!
PS: I would like to see MORE pics of the Porsche museum and VW dealerships... always interested in how they "do it over there".... :) Thanks for posting! :)

Yep, schwineshaxe at Augustiner Keller in Munich. It was great - I have also had a really good one at Andechs monestary in the past.

Few more from Porsche Platz

It's cheaper to buy from Jens and have them ship here than to buy in the US. Even cheaper if you happen to be going near his hometown ;)

It is a 1/4" set, and I think Jens' link above will tell you what you need to know. I prefer the one piece gold Hazet bits, but these seem to be quite nice as well.

All the coutries we visited were quite beautiful! If I had to pick a fave, I guess I would go with Italy for the perfect weather and scenery. Food ain't bad there either...

I went to rothenburg two years ago. The castle was Linderhoff, one of Ludwig's three. He aslo had Neuschwanstein (Cinderella's castle). I think none of his three were ever finished. Extremely impressive, though!!!

It's pretty handy - easy to grab and take with you. The rubber helps to stay put when you sit it down, as does the ability to open it from 0 to 220 degrees.

No, it's not. Porsche has switched from Hazet to this manufacturer on all tool and small parts storage. Can't remember the name right now, pretty sure it was an italian company (not Fami).
