So I went out a few weeks ago and bought myself a 3/8 drive breaker bar from Harbor Freight. Put it in my tool chest. Yesterday I went to use it and I can't get any of my sockets to fit onto the bar. Too big. Has anyone else had this same problem?

Today I went to their website to give my review and sure enough the site doesn't even have that breaker bar anymore! They have a 3/8 ratcheting breaker bar, but that is not the one I have.

Will they still let me return it?

I believe anything Pittsburg is lifetime warranty replacement and no receipt required.
That is what the clerk told me when I returned a 10mm open end that separated the first time I used it.

I'm sure if you take it back and demonstrate that their sockets don't fit on it an exchange or refund would be in the making even without a receipt. It's just punishment for buying a Horror Freight tool though, call it Karma.:wtf:

I never understood why HF required a receipt. They sell 99% house brand items...and almost all are 'lifetime' warranty. It's not like you could have gotten the Pittsburgh **** elsewhere.

I have one, never had any problem fitting sockets to it. It seems like the exact same breaker bar everyone else sells for twice as much. I got mine for like $6 when it was on sale + 20% off coupon.

HF has not always had there Pittsburgh logo on there tools. That has only happened in the last two or three years. I have two sets of Impact sockets bought 5 years ago from them with no logo and have been concerned if one broke because I have no receipt for them.

I would take it back anyway. Talk to the manager; he'll almost certainly exchange it for you. Why would they piss off a customer over a breaker bar that probably costs them a dollar or two?

Don't know about other stores, but we have quite a few guys that buy from us and resale at the flee markets here at the beach. They also buy broke HFT tools and sell them cheap. We know they do it and require the customer to have a receipt for that warranty return. That way, we know that the customer did buy that tool new from us. It keeps them from trying to warranty something that shouldn't be. Doesn't bother me to tell a customer no. Hell, I'm pretty good at it and I'm usually the one who is called to tell them no. But, if you show respect and ask nicely for the store manager, he will 99% of the time, exchange it out. Come in rude, you *** can go right on down the road with your broke tool.

Guessing you don't work in the Dillon HF? That'd be a heck of a ride from Myrtle. :lol_hitti

I had been to that one on a whim after seeing it heading south on 95. Had to stop on the way back. Super nice people there!

Blazer- don't know unless you try... Could always take a grinder to it!

No, I'm in North Myrtle. We have really good people in our store and will go the extra mile for them. We just follow what is giving from above and do our job.

This bar doesn't have the name Pittsburgh on it.

Also, it's not broken, just that I can't get any sockets or extensions to fit. I don't have any 3/8 drive sockets that are Pittsburgh brand. I have Craftsman, Snap On and some of the new Kobalt that were on sale for $10. None of them fit. I find it to be strange. Are their ratchets and breaker bars made to fit only Pittsburgh brand? I was thinking about getting a composit ratchet but now I'm afraid to.

I didn't want to spend alot of money on a breaker bar, but maybe a Craftsman will be better.

3/8" is 3/8", doesn't matter where it came from.
