I think GJ needs a dedicated Vehicle forum

I realize free parking is where vehicles are supposed to be discussed, but at the same time it is the open discuss anything forum on GJ.

I'd like to see a dedicated forum to vehicles, and working on vehicles, and let free parking continue to be the open forum.

What are your thoughts on this?

There is the Jalopy Journal if you are talking vintage mechanics.
There are other forums that specialize in modern cars.

I agree. I always thought we should get vehicles out of Free Parking.

Ryan has stated all that "open discussion" has "creeped him out", and that he envisioned it being more technical/DIY/tutorial ect ect.

So if his wishes were followed, the car stuff would stay in Free Parking and the off topic stuff (political rants, complaints about neighbors/wives/children/china, would be taken to another forum completely. He obviously hoped it wouldn't be discussed at all, since he didn't create an area designed to be filled with off topic rants.

Kind of like the forum is "strictly business" and all the play is expected to be taken somewhere else?

Everything related to the toys we park in our garages. Cars, trucks, motorcycles, jetskis, etc

I have to agree with DR here. The net is full of car specific forums that will give you wealth of information from people dedicated to the subject. I would not want to see this board diluted by 50 subforums. Keep it technical and garage centered.

Oh yeah the only downside on the H.A.M.B though is that it's not free. It's $60 a year

It's free unless you would like to support the site though an Alliance Membership; which is $50 per year not $60. Websites like these cost a lot to keep up, so I try to help with a donation. The way that Ryan set it up, with the donation, you get a discount when you buy stuff from Alliance vendors.
