Now I wonder how they get away with this label?

I was in the t-shirt business for some time. There's one company that labels their shirts "Made in USA" - not U.S.A. Apparently there's a country somewhere in Asia named USA. Wish I could say it's a joke.

Easy. They can. Look at nearly any bottle of juice. It'll list something like "Contents from Brazil and/or the United States"...and it's perfectly legal.

The way i see that label in the OP is this.

The manufacturer of that bolt has 2 (or maybe even more) different plants, one in th US and one in Germany, depending on things such as steel supply, countries economy and/or all sorts of intangables the sell which ever is available at the time.

This week they have to import some from Germany but next week they may have enough stock made in the US to supply outlets. So to cover themselves they just have one label.

Does that make sense? It does in my head :headscrat :lol_hitti

Back in the 1960's when Japanese products started coming into the country in mass and were considered as cheap ****, a town in Japan renamed itself USA, Japan. It didn't fool anyone very long.

And that's how that ******** urban legend just keeps going, decade after decade.

German made steel has as good a reputation as US made steel, so I wouldn't worry about it.
If it says Made in China, Made in Japan, or made in any other oriental country, you can start worrying about the quality of the steel. The Orientals have a reputation for crappy steel and poor quality products.

I think the Japanese are an exception... I'm quite sure their steel is as good or better than most. Swedish and British (Sheffield) steel is probably the best in the world.

I still wouldnt believe whats on the label...was in Hong Kong years ago, and the street vendors had tons of clothes...leftovers from the factories. It was funny 'cause lots of them said "Made in Isreal" etc.

We had a bottle of Mott apple juice that was "Made in China". I called the company and poured it down the drain.
This is the same country that gave us lead painted toys and deadly chemicals in pet food.
You have to read labels on every thing.

I'm not convinced. I've had Japanese tools that crumpled from weak steel just like the Chinese ones do. I don't do Oriental anymore.
