Anybody use Wright torque wrenches, or know original manufacturer?

I stumbled on a local "heavy duty" tools distributor that carries Wright. I have some Wright and like their stuff, good quality at the price point and still US made.

I'm in the market for a torque wrench, just need a basic clicker type, and liked what I saw from Wright. I can't find info on original manufacturer online (unless Wright actually makes them which I doubt). Anyone know more info, or have experience using them? They don't seem like a bad deal at $175 for the 20-150 clicker type, without really shopping around.

Yes.. I believe you are correct. I know wright doesnt manufacture there own torque wrenches and im sure they are cdi.

CDI use foreign parts. Wright claims all their stuffs are made in USA. There is a contraction.

This subject has been brought up a handfull of times here at GJ, All the Hard line tools such as Ratchets, Sockets, Extensions, Wrenches, etc are 100% made in the USA. Any of the items that they sell such as Channelock, , Irwin, Mayhew, Torque wrenches, basically any Tool that is "NOT" Produced by them is subject to the OEM of the Manufacturer. Im not real familiar with CDI torque wrenches and i have no clue on there USA status, I know they make a damn fine torque wrench and if that requires "Global Parts" so be it.

I have to admit I mis-understood Wright claim. I am not questioning the quality of CDI. I have both the Snap-On and CDI clicker. They are the nicest torque wrench I have seen. They put my HF, Husky and Craftsman clickers to shame. I am planning to replace them with more SO/CDI torque wrench.

The only "global" part on the CDI clickers is the ratchet head. The rest of it is the same as the one they produce for their parent company (Snap-on).

So does this mean the snap on verison of the CDI is also made of glbal components? Or does it have a USA head?

I know mine is stamped "USA" atleast 3x, 1 on each major component.

I use a Wright torque wrench, but I can't tell you who manufactured it if it wasn't them. Works great so far.

Well, just picked up a 4478 (I think) on Ebay for a pretty good price, so hoping it works out well for me as well.

Negative. The Cases say "Case made in Taiwan".

I have P/N 3478 and 3447 not a single marking of where they were made on the Wrench itself that I can see. Laser etched Serial Number on the underside but nothing else.

If it doesn't say it on the wrench itself, then I assume it is not made in USA. The wrench are probably made by CDI. Those are high quality torque wrench.

Just checked mine, my 2477 says Made in the USA on it, my 4478 doesn't say, and the case only says "case made in Taiwan". Amazon and some ebay sellers say the 4478 is made in the USA.

I'm going to update an old thread here. I recently acquired a new Wright 4478 1/2" torque wrench, and it does not say USA on it anywhere. After looking at pictures of CDI wrenches online, it is definitely made by them and likely "assembled in the USA". It appears to be excellent quality though, and I'm thinking I might replace my Gearwrench model with it.

I have an older Wright torque wrench that is identical to older USA Craftsman ones, and while made in the USA it is a bit lower on the quality scale. I'm glad to see they stepped it up with these CDI models.

CDI ratchets I believe are offshore (maybe Taiwan?). The snap on versions are always noted as USA in part because of the ratchet heads. It may be that some other parts are USA and maybe its not enough % wise to claim made in USA? Maybe some folks could chime in if they have more recent CDI purchases if they are all offshore now.

If CDI gets their electronic parts from Japan, I would rather put my money on them than USA.

I haven't seen anything great, electrical stuff, from our country (besides NASA or military technology). If y'all work on "made in Japan" Toyota vs "made in USA" Toyota, you'll know the difference between Denso and Delphi electronic components.
