Sorry, not sure if I could say this here!

New guy here also! Plushy

I like to ask you a question, don't take it the wrong way.
I've noticed in Australia there are a lot of car's converted to flat bed trucks. what is the reason for this, I'm not complaining, just curious! and I wouldn't mine doing that to one of my old cars. Nice if I could see more pics on how you mounted the bed. thanks!

One more thing, is that a CMP truck if so what year is it. looks great.
I have one, it's a 42 F15a If I remember.

nice looking place.

My wife and I went to Australia on our honeymoon. We loved the time went spent there and really want to go back, probably won't be very soon, but I don't look forward to the flight.

To help with Chip er's question, the "cars" that you are refering to are called utes, short for utility and they are all over Australia. They are much like the El Camino or Ranchero that were sold in the US, but they are built with a bed that is not integrated into the cab. The bed is a seperate component, just like our regular pickups here.
Why so many are converted to a flatbed, that I don't know.

Converted ? We get them from the factory as Utes or as in Plushys workshop a one tonner tray. Both Holden ( GM ) and Ford make versions of those for the market here using the front sheetmetal from the sedans.

Heres a photo of how it looks without the racks on it and the street tyres on it .

Photos, great. Sounds like you had they trailer overloaded.

Just noted that heater of yours. I bet it gets a workout in the winter. I have one very similar.

My Oath it gets a work out ballarat gets very cold during winter :) I have got the chimmney glowing a bright red a fews times . I am trying to workout a way to distribute the warm air around the shed more effectively though .

I am also going to insulate the whole shed as well to make it more user friendly all year round . :bounce:

Its close to the wall simply because the shed is only 30 by 50 feet and its overflowing with projects and parts . I am aiming to be building a new shed 60x120 feet later this year on a new property so the car hoist will get moved then to a better location in the new shed . I also tend to drop the whole diff out when replacing axles as i find it easier .

I do know of a few mk1 staghounds but none are for sale at the moment .

A nice addition there Plushy . When you over this way next let me know as a mate of mine has just scored a DUKW.

No worries iam hoping to be up your way in a few weeks so i will pm you then .

Just trolling your old thread - you had a great collection of projects happening back then. Loved the high pitched shed roof - I went to 15 degrees, but more would have been nice. One penalty is heating ...

I see you had plans to move and build a huge shed - did it happen? These things can take a long time ... my new shed was pegged out for about 15 years :)

Yeah i did move from Miners rest back to the Family Farm at Sulky ,have built a few sheds since then, some for storage and for the Farm and a Workshop shed which is a constant mess . I still have the Old Blitz truck , the Tonner and the R1 and have collected a few more projects along the way . I should probably start a new thread or resurrect this one with updates sometime.

I did guess the older pic's as Miners Rest :) Glad you now have more space and more projects to fill it :) Sounds like you might need to start a new thread ...
