Seeing as how these type of threads keep popping up concerning filling up HANSON trays I will try again:

The Question:

Has anyone ever found any "MFG" anywhere now or past that makes the following size sockets.

1/4" drive 12 point standard sae: 5/8"

1/4" drive 12 point deep sae: 5/8"

As I would really like to put this to rest in my mind a definitive answer would help as i have searched and searched...:headscrat:headscrat

All things aside, how to store the sockets or where to use them doesn't matter.

Does anyone manufacture them.???????

I'm not a big fan of trays bc there are a few that I like to have extras of, like 10mm.

i bought my first ever trays yesterday. HF black ones. i like them, idk if i will keep them, but i like them. (going to LOWES and sears , today to see what they have).

on the size thing. agree that they are off on the sizes. they should have went 1 size smaller and left out the largest size. if i keep these, i am going to look for a way to shift the # on the tray over to the next slot. and the empty slots. i will just put odd sockets on those.

I tried doing the whole tray thing until I realized that Wright deep sockets are about 1/4" longer than the pegs on the trays, so you can't even read the numbers... add that to the fact that there are non-sensical sizes, and the trays just didn't make sense.

I think they would be much better if they:

-made a bit more space between sockets, so thicker sockets and impacts of varying brands would fit properly

-did away with the absurd sizes, like 5/8" in 1/4" drive, and some of the smaller 1/2" drive sizes

-lengthened the pegs so that deep and shallow sockets of varying brands would still be usable with the trays

-lose the boss at the base, so that sockets could be stored facing up or down

I went with Wright USA made clip rails and couldn't be happier.

The biggest I have in 1/4" drive is 17/32, and that is a 6 pt. (Non impact) Brand? "Malaysia" I don't have a clue where I got it, probably in a junk box. "Take it or leave it" collection...

Yeah, I bought some trays as well and am not as happy using them compared to rails. I have some oddball stuff like old S-K 19/32 and 25/32 in 1/2" drive. In fact, I think I bought the last one of one of those from Epstein's. :D

i bought the KOBALT 1/4" trays and the 4 rail plate, today. the plate seems plenty nice enough, but perhaps waists a little space. the 1/4" trays, the pegs are pretty flimsy = probably very easy to break (but hey, thats what they make SUPER GLUE for). i think trimming the pegs down a lot will make em much better. compared to the HF trays, i see the HF better in every way. but, as of yet, i have "used" neither.

the KOBALT rails looked VERY NICE. and the magnetic rails where REALLY NICE, but pricy.

what i didn't see :
wrench rails and replacement rails clips.
