Thanks for the welcome. I own and operate a European repair shop in Tampa.
I love Snap on tools. And I am in project debt. Where do you want me to start.

Do you guys have a gallery to upload pictures or do you have to use photo bucket ?

I could post a link to my website, not sure if that's allowed though ?

I will post some pictures of my DTM car (gr.A M3) in the next few days.

Hey BMW guy & welcome!
I'm an BMW fanatic too, don't forget to post pics of the DTM car, is it a genuine (in case of, history?) or a clone?

Proper DTM or Gruppe A?

I hope that you'll enjoy this GREAT forum!

Welcome to GJ, neighbor. Glad you found us!

For the pix, I ended up with Photobucket. But others have been using the paper clip to make them attachments to the post. The paper clip is available if you 'Go Advanced' at the bottom...

I use PB every now and then I try the paper clip you mentioned, new to me.
I see you are an air cooled kind of guy. I was heavy into that in my early days. My first car was a Dune Buggy in Germany. It was a little frosty in the winter. Where in Tampa are you ?

Welcome...European cars and American tools...go together like beer and pizza!

I love beer and pizza so we are on the same page :)

Hi Anders, Its a original Schnitzer built DTM car with good history. Interestingly enough when I bought the car I had no idea of its history. It was just a gr.A car. Once I started digging I found out that the car made first place overall in the 24 hour Nurburgring race in 1989 and made 2nd place in a 24 hour race in SPA the same year.
Roberto Ravaglia and many other great drivers were part of the success of this car.

If you are active in the S14 scene I am sure you know the car.

Cheers Thomas

Stay away from the Hot Deals and Classifieds sections. If you're like most of us you have a tool addiction. GJ will feed that addiction like a Ybor City crack ho.

To late I already snooped around in the classifieds you are right very tempting stuff there. BTW, is it a tool addiction if your Snap on Box is 2 feet taller then you ? And I am 6.3.

How do you know about Ybors crack ho's ?? :shocking:

My Wallet ??

Forget about the Classifieds, its the Garage Gallery that did it for me... RaceDeck flooring, a ceiling full of fluorescent lighting... Then people start posting pix of their lifts and I start thiking, man, that would be nice... This place can get expensive.

BTW, we are at the north end of Dale Mabry, near TPC. I can see the county line from my yard.

Here are a few pictures of the DTM car. This how I got it. I stripped all teh old decals and waiting for new ones to be made. I will use the original Warsteiner livery as it was raced in 1989.

Here is when the car arrived from California

Thanks for posting all that goodness BMW Guy!
The car will look even more fantastic in the Warsteiner livery.
Your shop looks really good to, but even better without that Mercedes Benz flag!:lol_hitti

Well, if you earn your living working on them you can't be biased. :)
I admit though I like working on BMW's much better.

Since you are local, you are more then welcome to stop by anytime. Let me know and I PM you my address. I am in the Drew Park area.

Since you like BBS wheels. I love the BBS wheels too, but it takes a long time to refinish them. Labor of love.........:pimpflash

Hey, are the metric wheels from the '80s in any kind of demand, or are they boat anchors? My dad has three, maybe four in his basement. Aftermarket, I think, and a gold crosslace sort of like on your car in the racing pics. Can't recall brand, but I think it might start with an "M" like MWS or something.

They were on his '86 or so 745i when I was a kid.

I hate to tell you, but metric wheels in general are not that valuable. The metric tires are hard to find and very expensive compared to a 16 inch tire. Unless you have someone that wants to restore a car to its original state and is looking for a set of metric wheels you might get lucky. Your wheels might earn more at a scrap yard. Do they look like this ?

If not post a picture maybe they are something special who knows.

That's what I was afraid of...boat anchors!

The ones in the pick are stock BMW wheels, aren't they? I believe the ones my dad has are aftermarket, and a gold cross-lace pattern. Next time I am over there, I will take a quick look at them.

There could be a 50/50 chance that your wheels are not metric. Not many aftermarket companies went with metric sizes, due to limiting themselves.
