I just got the Lincoln 1134 grease gun and want a good all around grease cartridge for it. What would the recommendations be? I will mostly be using it for control arms, trailer bearings, and my go kart. Is the biodegradable stuff any good?

been using mystik jt-6 for as long as i can remember. grandpa used it, dad used it, and i use it. probably the main reasons is it works really well, isn't expensive, and readily available almost anywhere.

The Redline CV-2 is good stuff. I currently have Mobil 1 in mine becasue I needed some right away. The CV-2 is what I normally use.

I use Mobile 1, as I'm 98% sure it is the same as the Mil spec stuff (Mobil 28 IIR?) they formulated for landing gear on Navy jet aircraft. This stuff is more water resistant (by design) than any other "marine" grease I know of, and has better lubricating and anti shearing than any ordinary grease.

Mobil 1 synthetic bearing grease here.
I use the tub at home as I don;t go thru enuff to use the gun.

I've also never had a problem with Castrol Multi-use Wheel Bearing Grease.

I also keep Boeing lubricants and wurth can-based lubricants around for lighter duty.

I love threads like this! I like to learn and I like to see what other folks are doing. However it would be real nice if we could take it one step further. When you say "I use ** brand" it would also be nice if you could give reasons why you use one brand over another.

Just a suggestion. Thanks.

OK, an example of why I prefer Mobil 1 over blue marine or ordinary grease.

My samurai dumped a U joint, (as it had for the PO) and I replaced it. I replaced it every 10K mile, meanwhile the original U-Joints went on and on... (Yes I was pumping them with marine grease..)

I bought a new one (Again) took it apart and cleaned the so-called grease the factory has used. (Truly it was only a light grease to assemble them, useless **** in use...). I assembled it using the Mobile 1, and made sure the drilled cross holes that feed the grease to the bearings was also full of the Mobil 1.

I've not had to replace it since...

I ran heavy equipment for 40 years and can honestly say I saw no difference in any type or brand of grease cartrigde. I kept my equipment spotless, washing it between every job. I especially hated any grease that was black in color. Once it was used one time, my equipment was always nasty. I used only grease tubes that used either white or clear grease. When excess grease eased out of a joint it was far easier to clean.

I try to avoid environmentally friendly products. They're usually over priced and never seem to work as well as the highly toxic carcinogenic stuff that takes your skin off.

It's also more than double the price I pay for the blue Chevron Delo grease made from dinosaur squeezin's. :wtf:

WoD

We have also been using Cevron Delo EP #2 grease at work for many years and on race cars and it holds up fantastic. On the race cars the stuff sticks great and lives through car washes and killer heat in bearings and everybody we have try it stays with it after that. Proably would never go wrong using this product on most everything. You can call 1-800-LUBETEK to ask question about Chevron stuff and I got to know Jimmy "O" there his is quite smart on lubes and he can tell you where to buy also.

The Greengrease brand is not rated for automotive wheel bearings and they say not to use it as it is too tacky. Other applications for chassis, driveline and general use etc. is fine. This product is not the biodegadable green stuff it is green in color. It does is sticky stuff on suface.

The GREEN enviro products Lubrimatic are selling is rated CG LB for all uses but the LMA Red is very thin but the heavy blue seems normal and yes it is made with vegtable biodegradeable oils unsure of the life as it has only been out alittle while for consumer type uses.

I don't know about you, but a product that biodegrades doesn't sound like something I would want to pump into a grease fitting... :dunno:

You selfish brute!

What's changing out your ball joints a few years early if it saves the life of just one baby seal in the rain forest? :wtf:

A pain in the ***

On the farm we use John Deere lithium grease. We but it by the case (we go through 1-2 tubes a day) I'm sure it's over priced but it works and is convenient.
