Hello fellow Americans who still care about America, and who care enough not sell out our children. Seems, the ignorant few infected with greed, needing that 2nd Ferrari, have finally buckled. I mean fine, do layoffs, increase prices, but don't cave. All my friends and fellow craftsmen own USA and are proud of it...
That said, I went to both Lowe's and HomeDepot to price a DeWalt Drill Driver / Impact Combo. And what I saw I could not believe my eyes: My DeWalt product? "Honcho in Mexico". "What the fk!" My last DeWalt was made here??? It was more expensive but it was made here. I bought it because it was made well and still works fine. However, I need to get an impact driver and they come with a different battery than my drill. So I wanted to give an in-law my old drill and get the combo kit. So I started looking for other kits possibly made here and felt the air leaving my soul as I was coming up dry.
Can anyone point me to some cordless tools still made here? Thanks

One place I looked at said that while Makita is based in Japan they make tools here with a lot of US content so might take a look at them.

I as well support the home team whenever possible. Congradulations on your effort. I also would like to find more American made power tools. I hope someone will direct us to some domestic sources. Have been looking for American made hydraulic bottle jacks. Just aint any.

I believe that folks on here in the SO biz have indicated that SO cordless power tools are made in the US.

Don't take my word for it, just use that as a basis for a search of that brand.

I just came home from a trip to Horrible Depot and Lowe(s) End to buy some underlayment and some odds and ends I need for a new floor I'm installing in our bedroom tomorrow. I always stop by the tool section and browse for a while, and see if there is something I can use. I always look at COO and it is all made in China, Taiwan, etc. Very few are made in USA. Very disappointing and disheartening. I don't mind paying a few dollars more for quality and to support the economy, but I can't even do that! There is hardly anything made in USA available. If it has to be imported, I prefer European or Japanese. I have nothing against any country and I don't mind quality imported products made in a democratic country where workers have rights and are treated fairly. I do have reservations about Chinese made goods, not just quality of the tools, but conditions under which they are made.

Until our disposable society wises up, they will continue buying disposable tools, for their disposable lives. Sad...

I am absolutely not going to argue with you, because I don't really know "the facts." All I can say is that people here have said that SO makes cordless tools and batteries domestically.

I'm not talking about those licensed "SO" products like you can buy at Costco, I am talking about real SO tools.

Hopefully, folks with real knowledge regarding this situation will chime in.

The Snap-On cordless line is made by the Sioux Force Corp. It's my understanding the whole line is made in the USA. Possibly all in Sioux's factory in Murphy, NC. I don't know about Snap-On's air tools. Of course, much Blue Point stuff is made offshore.

Can you prove the implants are made in USA?

You got me. I just picked the first decent looking result from a google image search for "hot mechanic" - or whatever it was I searched for.

I realize now, I should've either been a bit more specific in my search or enabled 'safe search' before hitting enter... :yikes:

:lol_hitti And Photoshops.

What's wrong with European and Japan made? They are sometimes better choice.

Nothing wrong with those models, at all! Love 'em, too! Was just trying to keep the thread in line with what the OP was looking for...

All 14.4 and 18 volt cordless tools from Snap-on are made in Murphy, NC. The chargers are made in China and batteries are made in Mexico but the impacts or drills are made in the USA.

The 7.2 volt cordless tools by Snap-on are chinese made.

The 3/8 and 1/2 air impacts, air drills and air impact hammers, etc are made in the USA.

I am very skilled at checking for the COO of implants like those. I have developed a technique for feeling my way to the answer. My hands are highly specialized. I will be glad to assist this young lady with this question!

I am having the same problem as the op. Trying to find an American made cordless ANYTHING is pretty much impossible. I don't know if its against enviro-regulations to manufacture Ni-Cad/Li-Ion in the US, or as your post suggests, these manufacturers are simply greedy assholes. I'm inclined to believe the latter. Anyways...I'm seriously considering either Bosch, FEIN or Metabo. I would rather support a German manufacturer, over a Chinese or Mexican. I have heard that some Bosch stuff is made in China now, however if anyone can confirm for me that either FEIN or Metabo is made in exclusively in Germany, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hope you are also very skilled at ducking. Your calibrated hand may need major re-calibration.

Makita use to make many tools in the USA and Canada. Unfortunetly thats not true today. They've gone overseaes with everyone else.

I could of sworn someone posted a picture of their impact and it said assembled in the USA on it.

I'd also be willing to bet there is some form of china content in there. Electric motors take rare earth elements to make and China is[was] the major supplier for that.

edit: yep here they are from Petty4243 and SK. Assembled, not made.

I hadn't heard that before (regulation-wise,) but I can't think of a single Li-ion battery I've encountered that wasn't made in China (or deceptively re-branded to claim a higher mAh and look like it was made in Japan.)

Skin,

They say "assembled in the USA" because of the included battery. If it is not substantially made here (the entire unit) it has to say assembled in the USA. The material for the magnets might come from overseas but if the remainder of the motor and the rest of the impact was produced here, they would say "made in the USA". With that huge battery being made in Mexico and the charger from China, the package cannot claim is was "substantially produced in the USA" and must be stamped as noted.

Up until very recently I used to just blame it on the government. They certainly haven't done our manufacturing sector any incentive when it comes to environmental, financial and labor regulation to keep jobs on our shores.

Now I put it about 50/50 on the government and stockholders who must have their investment increase by 15-20% a year or they're screaming for the heads of the board of directors. Unfortunately the only way for them to continue such growth without radical price increases is to move production to countries with almost no labor/environmental regulation and dirt cheap labor.

Not sure i buy that as they have a seperate COO for the battery. Why not put assembled in the USA on the battery as well? I'd think they could put Made in USA on at least the bare tool if it was indeed made here since they clearly marked the battery with its own COO.

When your talking about a Tool that is made up of many different Pieces its gonna be Nearly impossible to find a Tool that has 100% USA Parts and made in the USA. I guess we should be happy at least they are still Assembling it here, Thats better than the alternative in my mind.

As far as I know Festool and Hilty is 100% made in Germany. I know, not USA, but at least not Chinese. These tools are extremely well build, and also extremely high prized....

Is Milwaukee also made in china? Will check as soon as I am in the store. I am pretty sure the larger breakers are US made.

As an European, I have the same feeling. Not as much for US made but at least in a civilized country. Sometimes you just can't get around it but I rather get run over by a Semi than buy from Wal mart.....

Some Hilti cordless tools are made in China. The 18V lithium-ion batteries are made in Poland.

I strongly prefer made in the USA, but I'll bend over backwards to see that my purchases are at least made by US democratic allies whenever possible. That isn't much to ask.

Milwaukee Electric fired most of their American manufacturing workforce a few years ago. Now almost all of their tools are "Professionally Made In China" and they aren't one nickel cheaper, either. I'm done with them.

All of my recent woodworking power tool purchases have been from Festool.

Does that include Taiwan, Japan, Korea, and Singapore?
