Okay, I have posted enough that I guess it is time to show my garage. It is a humble, little, attached 13.25x23.25 one car garage. When I bought the house it was an unfinished space and it looked like ****. I'm still not happy with it and it is a work in progress. Here is a picture of what it looked like when I rebuilt the 235 for my 52 Chevy Styleline DeLuxe (4 door variety).

I have since drywalled the garage and purchased some cabinets, lights and different items to make it more tolerable. The one item I have always hated is the floor. Just plain old concrete that creates dust constantly and must be happy to see me as it waves constantly. I have to say Mr. Jack Olsen corrupted me with the ceramic tile floor and as of yesterday, I decided to go that route. I was at Lowes and they had 12"x12" tile for $0.57 a sq ft. I couldn't pass it up, it is cheaper than VCT... and did I mention I am cheap? I started installing today and have completed all that I can do until the rain stops and I can move the car out and rearrange my stuff. I hope to have the floor done this week. Jack, thanks for showing me how well tile can operate in a garage setting! My wallet says other things, but hey, you only go 'round once.

So here is one more of the garage prepped for tile.



The next few are of the new floor going in. Like I said before, as soon as the weather changes and the tile work dries, I will rearrange stuff and get the rest done.





Last pic is of the license plates... I am originally from Illinois - so I have been collecting them for awhile. I have 49-79 on the wall, but also have some from the 20's as well.

Okay, one last photo showing the front wall, circa last year. This wall looks much like it does today, but the freezer is gone. The ex took it in the divorce.

NICE! Great progress. Are you going to tile the entire floor?

Thanks! Yes, I bought 330 sqft of flooring and it should be done this week. Next will be the concrete block... I have an idea, but have to see how I am going to handle that portion.

Well I have made more progress. I laid another 80 sqft of flooring. No, it isn't perfect, but neither is my garage floor. I think it is a huge improvement and I can't believe how much larger the garage feels.





I have to clean up the boxes and luckily recycling day is tomorrow. I will then work on getting things rearranged so that I can get into the corner by the water heater.

Pretty well actually - so long as you do a good tile job. Check out The 12-guage Garage thread. Jack shows lifting his 911, pulling an engine and transaxle with no ill effects. The biggest thing I have been concerned about is grout stains, but have decided to go with black grout.

It's looking great! Tile is as strong or stronger as the concrete underneath it, so long as you don't leave voids under the tiles when you install it. In a bathroom application, there are generally all sorts of voids, since installers use a fast 'dab' method. (But then, no one parks a car in the bathroom.)

Thanks Jack! I am loving it so far, but my back isn't happy at the moment. I have all the field tiles down and am now left with doing the edge cuts. I will work on that next week as my back is killing me. Here are some updated photos. Note: I am also getting rid of stuff that I haven't used in years. After reading some of the threads on here I have decided to keep my garage useful, but keep things to an as needed basis. I have a storage shed that contains the yard stuff, bikes, occasional use tools - like my engine stand and engine hoist.
