Mr. Heater Fresh Air Vent

Need some ideas on my Mr. Heater. It's been installed for a couple of years but, I would like to add some kind of fresh air vent. The heater is a 45,000 natural gas unit and works just great. I simply think there should be some kind of fresh air vent. The garage is 24x40 with a side door and a double overhead door. There are no windows so, it is pretty air tight. Please, any suggestions?

Thanks

Dave

Do you heat the garage all winter, or just fire it up when you're working in the garage? If intermittant use, just crack the man door half an inch and you'll have plenty of make-up air.

If you use it continuously, the best option is to see if Mr. Heater makes a separated combustion flue. This allows flue gases to go out the inner pipe, and the outer pipe draws in fresh outside air.

Second best would be a continuous open fresh air vent, like one used for an HRV.

Thanks for the answer. I just use it to heat the garage when I'm working out there so I think I'll just resort to leaving the door open a bit. Thanks again.

The Mr. Heater does not require a fresh air intake although they are not intended for confined space areas. Your garage, although it may well insulated and tight you will be supprised on how much air gets pulled in through your doors. If just to satisfy your need you can add any kind of small vent that can be manually shut to serve the purpose.

I think I may just check into something like this. I haven't had a problem, like I said before but, am going to be using the garage a lot more this winter.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
