and the guy with that same box. he told me that red boxs are paint. and all others are power coated. is this true ?

thanx

They are still available, they are in the RWD catalog offered by Snap On. I don't have one in front of me right now for pricing or part numbers. They are not very popular because they tend to get yellowish after time. The stainless guards are a far nicer option.

thanx for the tip. i didn't know that. now i don't want them, as they are kinda ugly to begin with.

i will look into red tape. the stainless is probably more than i want to spend.

I have the stainlees on my 54" box and the clear on my 56" .personally i prefer the clear i've had them on there for six years and have had no dis-coloration at all.they don't show every fingerprint and smudge like the stainless ones do.i say go for the clear, they are cheap, they protect your box and most people(in my case) don't even notice they are there.

I used clear plastic chip protector on my drawer tops. It's the same material used on cars and trucks. I cut them to size and applied them. Works great and saved a ton of money

Does anyone know if drawer guards are still available for the KR650 and KR655 boxes? And short of a Snap On dealer, how do you get the RWD catalog, I can't find it online.

I don't have access to my dealer right now (I'm off work on work comp and I'm not supposed to be in the shop!). I may be bringing my tool box home as I can no longer do the mechanic thing (trashed both of my knees), but I'd still like to do something with the top edges of the drawers as they are beat up from over 20 years of use. If all else fails, I guess I can buy the closest size and trim them to fit.
