Still saving my pennies, but when I get mine (hopefully next Spring) it will be a Kioti. Kubota is like the Snap On of tractors, but there are ones out there just as good without the name premium......of course that's simply my humble opinion....

I have an older 580 Case that has been doing duty on the farm for years. There are a few different backhoes out there and what you need will be determined by the jobs you require of it. What do you see this rig doing for you?

Hi Larry,
I bought a Kubota BX 25 a little over two years ago. It has been nothing short of spectacular. It has done much more than I ever thought possible.Like moving two foot plus snow storms we have had. We do not have that kind of snow often. It has the mid mount mower. What a time save! The front loader, and the backhoe, have been awesome. It's great for a home set up. It really saves the back. I never run out of work for it. It has been problem free. Kubota has the small tractor down.

I would think whoever has the best support in your area.

Could also look on Craigslist.

Here is my tractor story.

Trying to help my dad clean up his property recently . I asked him what year his Minneapolis-Moline tractor with backhoe was. His answer .... 1957. I will have to take pics of it.

Been sitting for 30 years.

My "little tractor" is a NH tc35da. The "super steer" is incredible, almost zero turn radius. its a 2006,almost 1700 hrs on it now. have the loader, backhoe, 72" roto tiller,72" 2 stage snow blower,8' back /ditching blade,72" york rake,72" box blade. Its really my go to tractor. No issues with it so far. I have 2 buckets for the hoe,a 10" and an 18". It will flat bottom 8' deep.

edit) forgot about the 4000# skidsteer forks and the skidsteer quick attachment on the loader. Also an auger with 12" and 18" screw. The brush hog that I made the offset brackets for was in the fabrication section last year when I built it.

I love my Kubota L3940.
Bought it with the loader and backhoe 1.5 year ago when we built a house on this property. It has amazing and I can't live without it. I have a 6 foot rear finish mower, 6 foot boxblade and 7 foot rake. I've made some money clearing my co-worker's land with it.

we have a smallish ford/new holland at work that won't hardly pick itself up. Another utiliy co. has a kubota the same size and is an amazing machine. Depends on the size of tractor you want. If you want a smallish machine, go with the kubota. If you want a larger, the guy above is correct the case 580 extend a hoe is very nice.

gotta go with trbomax on this one. Love my New Holland...I don't have the backhoe attachment on mine, but use a grading box, sulpher duster in the vineyard, 6' mower, front loader w/forks, etc. only negative is that you must put on a lot of weight on the rear to pick a half ton grape bin with the front end...
By the way, this is the identical tractor as the ag case...only difference is this is ford blue as opposed to red.
Be sure you have a quality dealer close by as you will need misc. parts, filters, etc to keep your machine running A1

Load the tires,700lbs each with cornsyrup. Mine wouldnt hardly pull itself on hardpac snow with the blower. Loaded tires really helped ,I didnt even put the chains on last winter. I useually leave the tiller hang on there for wieght in the summer and Im just doing bucket work, its 1300# and pretty well tucked in

As you say,the case and nh are built on the same line, then it splits and goes to different paint deptments . I would have bought the case (liked the color better) but case doesnt offer the super steer articulated axel. all the filters are available at nappa for about 1/2 what nh wants. I run JDtransmatic fluid in the drive ,cheaper and rated better. Only amsoil in the motor though.

Kubota L3600. Bought it 13 years ago and zero problems. I also have a Kubota F3680 mower and a Kubota RTV. All great equipment-just wish it were made in USA.

My Dad just bought a Kioti and NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS!!

Mid PTO controls ALWAYS **** up... changed the oil there was silicone in both the hydraulic and engine oil filters. Lost reverse in it about a month after purchase, brought it to the dealer and they were giving my parents the run around until my dad called his lawyer they dropped it off 2 weeks later when no one was home not fixed (I'm aware this is more of a crappy dealer issue but thats who Kioti has representing them). We fixed the reverse issues ourselves, after the dealer not knowing how to fix it. Now hydraulics are leaking from the loader controls... Nothing but problems.

And only 95 hours

I bought a John Deere 2305 about five years ago. It has a front loader, back hoe and I have fork lift forks for it. We only have a half acre lot, but it is one of the handiest tools I've ever owned.

We have a John Deere 3720 w/ AC cab and it's done everything we've wanted it to and then some. My wife enjoys the seat time just about as much as I do. It has a frontend loader and a bushhog hanging on the rear. We've also have a few other quick attach implements and can't say enough good thing about it. Just a couple of problems which have mostly been taken care of by the dealer. We bought it new and hope to have it the rest of our lives. Too valuable a tool to not own. Did have a few moments of Kubota envy but, I'm over them now.

Was it new? Was it a hydro or manual trans? You are really the first person I have found to have a major issue with Kiotis, I'll keep that in in mind and keep asking around/looking around when researching.

Have you looked at purchasing a used machine?? I bought a Ford/NH 1720 with a loader for $8K 3 years ago. Since then, I've used it to help build my garage, install waterlines and conduits, skid logs, dig stumps....you name it. Piece by piece, I have bought a slew of implements: backhoe, brush hog, auger, finish mower, box blade, straight blade & 2" hitch adapter.

With all the implements and the tractor, I have around $14K, which is what you'd pay for just the tractor alone purchasing new. A majority of the implements I bought were used but they all work and get the job done.

The older Ford/NH compacts are bulletproof if maintained properly and taken care of.

I'll add another vote for Kioti. I was looking for a SCUT a few years ago and found that I got a lot more for my money with the CK20S (although probably closer to CUT than SCUT). I have a front loader, pallet forks, front blade, and rear mower. Have about 145hrs on it now and have been very happy with it. Most people I have heard from with the backhoe have been very happy with it as well.

In the BX size, I actually liked the Massey Ferguson GC2400/2600 better than the equivalent Kubotas, but ended up with the Kioti because I felt I got more tractor for my money.

Check out TractorByNet.com good info and reviews on there. Kubotas, JD, New Holland, Massey are all decent machines. Also be sure that you get one that has good LOCAL support! Nothing like having to haul a 4000# tractor to a dealer 80 miles away.

Well, I feel a little better as I'm not going hydro for whatever I get....and that tends to make options less for many other brands....:headscrat

Years ago I used a Kubota L245H at work. It is bascially a redesign of the International 140, but the Kubota was 100 times better. If I needed a tractor and had the money, it would be a Kubota.

Bought a Massey Ferguson 1528 about 1-1/2 years ago and love it. Hydrostatic with backhoe attachment. Loaded tires workngreat in the snow without chains.

Tires are water filled which would be less than corn syrup, but still need a bunch of weight on the *** end...

I'll be damned if I have to use a snow blower on mine...the moving van would be there far sooner than that.

kubota L4400 here--about 3 years old. gear drive, no hydrostats, no electronics, no gizmos, nothing to give problems. very old school technology, yet with kubota quality. i have a loader/bkt/forks, 6ft box blade, 6ft scraper blade, 6ft woods snowblower, 7ft disc set, 2 bottom 16" plow, and other misc **** i hook to it. it starts and runs great, and is mainly used for our tremendous central NY snowfalls. it has ag tires, and i have chains for all 4 corners. it has been running 16 hrs a day for the last 3 weeks doing hurrican irene cleanup in our completely flooded out and devastated village

Have you looked into skid steers? More attachments than you can think of and really more versatile than a little tractor.

A skid steer will really tear up the ground you are useing it on,it would destroy a lawn in one pass. My JD 8120t is nothing more than a supersize skidsteer and even in a straight line the sod is wasted where ever I drive it.

edit) with the skidsteer adapter on the loader and the live hyd. I can run any skidsteer attachment on my NH and not put a mark on the grass.

Another vote for Kubota. Bought one, loved it. Bought another BIGGER one, and love it. Thinking about buying another, even bigger one!

Loved the Snap-On comparison. Quality wise, it's true, but Kubota's pricing is no higher than JD and - IMHO - is a better product in this category <60HP.

Purchased a Bobcat 230 (30hp) 2 yrs ago and it's been great. Came with loader, hydrostat, Bobtach bucket, deluxe 3-point and 4x4 for $14500. It's funny before I purchased the tractor I used to suffer with back problems, sure is nice having a loader around.

NH and Kubota were also considered but with Bobcat's incentives the deal was too good to pass up. The Deere in this price range didn't have a removeable loader.

Kubota B2920 here - LOVE IT! Live on 5 acres and was burning through "garden tractors" about every three years. Most of my property sits on a hill; so even the better quality mowers would have trouble pulling my big a@$ up the hills. Last one was a Poulan Pro with a 26hp motor; they are just not designed for this kind of use. The Kubota, on the other hand, just keeps going and going. Paid around $15K all said and done. Did not get the backhoe, but have easy access to a big Case hoe whenever I need it.

Attachments with the 2920 - Loader, back blade, box blade, 60" rotary cutter, Mid mount mower, spreader, and drag harrow. Only the the MMM and the FEL came with the machine. The rest were auction scores.

I bought a TYM 23 hp tractor last year, and love it. It has a lot more front end loader capacity than it has *** end to hold it down! I got a lift all for the 3 point hitch, and just strap a 55 gallon barrel of water on it back there for a counter weight. I like the fact that it has quick disconnects on the front bucket which are made to accept standard skid steer stuff. I bought a set of pallet forks for a Bobcat off Craigslist, and can have the bucket off and the forks on in less than a minute. Also, TYM has the best warranty in the business. 5 years on everything. I looked hard for an American made compact tractor, but there is no such animal.

Nothing runs like a Deere...

Here's my 2210 four wheel drive three cylinder diesel tractor. It's a fantastic machine that I just cannot say enough good about. And can do anything its' big brothers can do,, just smaller bites at a time. It has a 60” front end loader, 60" belly mover, Wood's backhoe, 48" rototiller, and box blade...

Pictured with an under inflated front tire. Though I'm moving a large rock that's about 1,000 pounds..
