Welcome JB...

Milton Keynes? Been there a few times.....x-BIL used to live there....not the small little town it used to be 30 years ago....

But still....I would think that maybe a farmer has some space you could rent out pretty cheap.....I know it's going to be hard finding a house with anything more than a small 1 car closet. Do you live in council housing or do you own?

Neither!

I'm 23, still living at home, but due to a new job i need to move my cars out! will be living out of paid hotels and renting a room near my new office 120 miles away, so the money i save there will pay for my share of a unit back in MK!

Currently own 4x VW's, 3x Mk2's and 1x Mk4 (stripping for running gear), so between 3/4/5 of us we can rent commercial sized premises with 2 post ramp and proper air lines...

took another look at this place today:

It's about 1200sq/ft, with an office and toilet, currently waiting to see if the owner is open to negotiation on rent costs.

As it stands, they are asking £684 ($1075.9) a month, which includes VAT, but does not include business rates (anywhere from free to £3,000/$4719 a year) or utilities.

Big money for somewhere you don't own! I'm going to keep trying, as there are ALOT of empty units with rental boards on but no-one seems prepared to drop the cost, and space for toys is looking expensive!

Well, after alot of searching, we finally got something...

cf714393.jpg

We own 2, one 11x35, one 17x35, adjacent, so we will put in a doorway. We get 2 roller doors and a front door, a very high eave height (lowest point is 10ft) and the place itself is like Fort Knox with the amount of security!

This is how they looked on Tuesday, there was a bit more in place yesterday.

The builder reckons they'll be ready in 3 weeks!

They are wooden prefabricated panels, so we may be in before the year is out!

Thats an "interesting" looking construction. Are they going to have power and be watertight? Its going to be ****** freezing in the winter and roasting in the summer if theres no insulation. It'll also sweat like a ***** in damp weather, I have a tin roof in my garage and until I put a dehumidifier in it it used to rain inside when it was cold and damp just from condensation.

 thats the temporary wall, its coming down once the back walls are up. The unit walls themselves are the black pannel in the picture with that yellow farm forklift thing. they are modular pieces, so outside weatherproof section, insulation, and internal batons for board to be nailed to, all in one!

watertight and power yep! they have composite pannels, looks like a newer version of asbestos sheet, i think its fibreglass, for the roof.

Here are a few pics of the existing ones on site that our friends currently have:

Ours are constructed the same way, but will have higher roof heights and are longer! Plenty of room for a mezzanine!

Ah, pretty close to Silverstone, right? Get over there much? Always wanted to drive that track after watching British Touring Car championship highlights!

yeah I used to go to college at Silverstone! been a few years since my last visit though.

I'll start a proper thread for this when i get some better pics of them going up!
