I finally gave in and bought a new torque wrench. Of course, the Snap-On guy came by today and I was poking around trying to find something to buy, then I came across this..............

Snap-On ATECH3FR250A, maybe a little too much, but eh, I just helped out ole America's economy a little bit. I'm pretty excited about it. Heard a lot of people say that they are way overpriced and what not, but to me it's worth some extra coin to not have to add a damn dial gauge to a ratchet to do angle torque, among other things.

I do this day in and day out, plus side work. The only thing that turned me off about this torque wrench was the limited warranty, 1 year, then after that it's a flat rate thing. 95 dollars each time it breaks to have it repaired. But, hopefully I don't have to worry about that.

Thanks! I'm sure all of us know that feeling of "Oh god, I just spent how much". But as soon as I pulled this thing outta the box, I knew I wanted it. It will make life so much easier when it comes to torquing things.

You won't regret this tool, it's awesome. When I got mine everyone in the shop made a gasp at the price, but they all bashfully ask to borrow it:lol: I waited for it to come out in dual 80 before I pulled the trigger! The first set of heads you torque and turn you'll have an evil grin while you step back and admire your fresh kill. Enjoy

Oh man i'm tellin ya. The reason why I bought this tool was I just finished a job up on an 03 hyundai tiburon gt 2.7 v6. I remember how cramped up and ****** it was, especially with the dial indicator for the angle torque, on the back cylinder head. I had done it before on other cars, but this car just made me never wanna do it again. So, I guess I solved that problem today.

how much do those things cost???
LOL, I paid full price on it. They had no deal, or promotion on it. $519.00 out the door.

Before the flaming starts, yes, I could've got it cheaper somewhere else or used. But I prefer buying precision tools like this brand spankin new. Plus I just flipped a car for a good profit and the money was burning a hole in my pocket and I had always wanted this particular torque wrench.

No need to defend yourself. I've been using that same torque wrench professionally for about 2 years now and love it. You quickly forget about the price when a quality tool makes your job easier.

Very true, I was simply trying to avoid the criticism over a personal choice.

But yes! Soon as I popped the batteries in I was running around checking everyone's lug nuts and checking out how the angle torquing works on spare engines sitting around the shop. Came home, torqued the heads on the chevy 283 i'm rebuilding and OMG, I love this thing.

Very nice torque wrench. I agree that design is so much easier for torque to yield angles. It will save you plenty of time for years to come.
