Hey guys i am new to the forum. I have actually already built my garage or at-least the outside of it. I am working on the showroom, apartment as we speak. I will get some pictures up of it soon. Basically it is a 105x60 shop. 4-10x10 doors and 1-12x10 door. 1 walk in door. apartment and showroom in a 44x30 area. A 16x28 paint booth. a wash out bay. Along with a 44x30 upstairs storage area with a 5 foot outside and 8 foot center ceiling height.
The center 35x60 is built out of steel trusses and z Chanel. The rest of the building is built like a pole barn with 4x4 walls and 6x6 ends. Had a 14FT inside ceiling height on the ends and a 20ft ceiling height in the middle. Ill have more pics to come of it as we progress. Here is a pic of the drawings.

I hope it's a big budget. Trying to temp. heat a 105 x 60 (and probably not yet insulated ?) is going to be a bit pricey. Are you only planning on heating one partioned off area?

Might be a lot cheaper to outfit the people in heated suits, or partition off small areas for specific uses (Like painting) and insulate and heat them.

Boy, my entire lot is only 40x100!

Actually have a rather small budget. I helped build the building about 4 yrs ago and the owner stopped when it was time to wire and install the doors. The man who was going to buy it after it was finished backed out. So the owner said im not gonna build it till someone wants it. He then moved out of state and kinda forgot about it. So it was time for me to buy an finish it. As far as insulation it has a panel wall ( If i am correct 10-12 gauge sheet metal with 2 inch solid foam insulation between and then another sheet of 12-10 gauge sheet metal on outside, like a sandwich) The the roof has an r-30 18 inch roll insulation. its like 6 feet wide then 14g tin is placed over that. All doors as insulated also. Now for heat we are going to probable start out with 2 wood burning furnaces for each side and a central heat and air unit for the offices-showroom-and clean area. So all in all i should not have much of a monthly operating cost. That and my friend is cone 30 days at a time so i only have to heat my half then.

It's the part that's gonna fall in the ocean when
Great story on how you ended up with the place. Also a bonus that you helped on the construction, gives you a much better knowledge of the building.

Alright, so it looks like your'e in process on the framing. Are you going full height on those wall sections? Orient us a little bit on what we're seeing here.

That is fffing great space. It's going to be really cool to watch this progress.

Well it will have only 9 ft ceilings. The space above will be open and we are going to build the an office upstairs and use that space for the furnace and for the hot water heater and storage. Yeah been a long time coming. Im ready to be in the shop. Thanks

Yes and no. I was on vacation and had a friend of mine lay the plumbing out. Well for some reason he did not go completely by the print and they are not inline and will not fit inside the walls like they should and are not exactly where they were intended to be put. Still works out OK but was not real happy. :) But at least no i did not have to cut the concrete..

May not need heat, depending where it is !
Winters here are in low teens at night and some below zero night. It will need some sort of heat at the least for the shop. the office and so on will have central heat.

Made allot of progress lately. Have some pics and will post them up later. Got plumbing done. Septic is set and fill lines down and covered over. Drywall is all up and finished Turing walls and have the first coat of primer sprayed on. Hope to finish priming and have put first cot of paint on Monday. All wiring is done inside except for 1 run of wire for the lights in my work area.
