Hello

Lurking for a while and loving the builds/gallery.

Will be building next year, but want some advice.

The current depth of an attached garage of the plans I have are 26 feet deep. I have seen many builds that are 28 and 30 feet deep. Will I regret not having the extra 2-4 feet? Aside from being able to park some cars 2 deep (theoretically), would I be crazy to stick to 26 feet deep?

I had a 26x26 detached and depending on your intent and layout it can leave a guy crowded up front with a full size truck inside.

What part of Canada?

I don't have a truck, but can see how it would be tight with a full size. Would love to be able to park 2 deep, but only if they were Smart cars.

I built mine before I was married and wife insisted on being able to park inside so I built a platform over her Nissan Pulsar. Roof was 11' and the platfor just cleared the car both over and beside so when you stepped out you could stand straight up. Also was kind of a handy height as you could back a full size 4x4 to it and easily load quads or sleds off the platform.

I got a 22w x 24d, I can park my Dodge Ram ex cab/shortbox in it with a tool box in front but just enough to leave me squishy room between the two. I do want a 28 deep but will settle for a 26 next time.

No pics. It was 15 yrs ago that I moved. If I remember right it was 6' or right next to it from the top of the platform to the ceiling. That little Pulsar was a very low car. The beam across in front of the door was full width of the 10' door so no post in the way. I had the opener set to only lift the 5' or so for her to get under and then I needed to pull the latch to open it all the way if needed. Really added alot of space to what was definitely going to be dead "air" anyway.

If not under repair it is out and no storing anything to do with plants, gardens, pets. LMAO Second marriage and I have learned not to let them get a toehold in the mancave.

Grew up in Waverly Heights and then Fort Richmond. Currently living in a condo right downtown but will start building next summer. Have five acres in the city to work with.

How long ago were you in the Peg?

Measuring the average car having 30 feet depth would let you park 2 deep in some cases which is hugely desiresble.

Will have to talk with designer about what the options are.

3100 sq ft shop... Nice.

We are going with an attached four car. Will be 'split' into two halves with one side for standard use and the other half for a smaller shop.

Going a few feet deeper sounds better and better.

I don't put much faith in what politicians say, especially when it regards taxes.
