Can anyone tell me anything about these wrenches? I bought them at a swap meet because I had never seen them before. I have six total. (3) are size 14&17 and (3) are 17&19. They are made by Dowidat. Thanks!

Wrenches from the tool kit found in the spare tire storage compartment. The sets commonly have a nice pair of pliers, emergency hand crank for sunroof motor failures and a few other pieces. Nice find.

I've never seen a Mercedes socket wrench.

Usually the tool kit allowed you to do all of the general maintenance jobs on the car and emergency repairs.

DIN is an abbreviation for "Deutsches Institut für Normung" or the "German Institute for Standardization". It's the national organization that governs standardization in Germany. There are thousands of DIN standards, but 895 is the set of standards for materials, dimensions and other physical properties that apply to this particular type of wrench.

They are made by Dowidat.

The bottom wrench may be Dowidat, but the top one is clearly a Heyco. I can't see what's written on the back of the middle wrench, but if it doesn't explicitly say "Dowidat", I'd guess it was made by Matador.

In addition to Heyco, Dowidat & Matador, I've seen these wrenches made by Elora, Gedore, Walter & Stubai. There are likely others too...

Similar to the wrenches found in toolkits in 1980s BMWs. The ones in my cars were made by Heyco but I think they also used various manufacturers at different times.

I wish Mercedes did something like that. I do have a warning triangle mounted to my trunk where the BMW keeps its tools.

Hazet made specialty tools for Mercedes as well. I have a set of valve adjustment wrenches with valve spring holder.

Good eye lbgradwell! That is the only wrench that is different.
